Is Just Dance the most generic Gaga song?

yes it's generic but the gp don't know how to appreciate anything more

:later:

If that were true Gaga would have flopped immediately after Just Dance :awkney:

There's nothing remotely generic about Bad Romance and Born This Way, two of Gaga's biggest hits to date.

It WAS generic when it first came out but after heavy promotion and emphasis Gaga put on the song, and the fact that it was the debut single of Gaga, it has somehow become iconic.

Perhaps the most iconic and generic song ever.

i should have clarified, if she released bad romance as her first single, would she have done as well? a generic song is what she needed at first to appeal to the masses, and from there people were aware of her and fascinated by her and people were able to appreciate her music because they knew who she was.. if that makes any sense.

No, because is came out in 2008 not 2011 or 2012. That sound was fresh, nothing like it was on US radio.

It was fresh during its time and in my opinion its one of the best written pop records in 2008 along with Poker Face.

I would say "Just Dance" and "Telephone" are her two most prominent songs where, even when they were first released, didn't strike me as surprising or unique in any particular way.

Well, it might sound like that to some people now (our ears are saturated with electropop, after all), but back when it came out it was really different from all the stuff that was on the radio...it's all about context...

But, of course, the songs in BTW, TFM and even ARTPOP are more "Gaga" than "Just Dance"...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
