What is your one complaint about ARTPOP?

I've always had a big issue with the overall songwriting. Most of the songs on the album sound as though Gaga's singing over the top of pre-made instrumentals, written independently to her ideas / lyrics. G.U.Y., Fashion!, Donatella, Swine, Aura, and Jewels N' Drugs all sound this way to me. It feels really obvious that the music and lyrics weren't created together for one specific vibe or purpose, as if large chunks of those songs were made out of old instrumentals without the editing required to make them sound organic. Writing this way does not sound as genuine, or as powerful. It seems to me that Gaga and whoever produced/co-wrote those songs deliberately went for a more modern songwriting style rather than sitting down with instruments, but I don't think it works.

I felt bad the entire time I wrote that, disclaimer: I do love ARTPOP. :ohno:

Well on Aura's and Donatella's case that was definitely true :emma:

my #1 complaint w/ ARTPOP is how egotistical and narcissistic she is in the album.

don't burn me for saying that.

There's a lot of moments in the album that I love, but things like "don't you know my ass is famous" and so many other comments and the underlying statement of a lot of the songs are deeply egoic.

i love her & the album regardless.

That the R. Kelly version of Do What U Want was the primary version rather than the superior Christina Aguilera and solo versions which didn't even arise until after the song's hype died down.

Mr Ricky

That she not released The Acapellas and Instrumentals along with stems for every song. :green:  :green:

Gypsy ... That song was destined to be a single and should have had a video .. It's the most heartfelt song on the album and everyone I played it to , loved it .. and they weren't even Gaga fans .. They still play it and always tell me how amazing it would have been if she made a video for it .. esp after watching the fan made ones I showed them ..this one in particular makes everyone go awww :sara:

I really wish it was a single .. as far as the the album is concerned .. I loved it then & I still love it now .. ARTPOP will always be an underrated masterpiece .. Period !! :proud:
