Most of the songs on the album sound as though Gaga's singing over the top of pre-made instrumentals, written independently to her ideas / lyrics. G.U.Y., Fashion!, Donatella, Swine, Aura, and Jewels N' Drugs all sound this way to me. It feels really obvious that the music and lyrics weren't created together for one specific vibe or purpose, as if large chunks of those songs were made out of old instrumentals without the editing required to make them sound organic. Writing this way does not sound as genuine, or as powerful. It seems to me that Gaga and whoever produced/co-wrote those songs deliberately went for a more modern songwriting style rather than sitting down with instruments, but I don't think it works. I felt bad the entire time I wrote that, disclaimer: I do love ARTPOP. Well on Aura's and Donatella's case that was definitely true Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

There's a lot of moments in the album that I love, but things like "don't you know my ass is famous" and so many other comments and the underlying statement of a lot of the songs are deeply egoic. i love her & the album regardless. It's the most heartfelt song on the album and everyone I played it to , loved it .. and they weren't even Gaga fans .. They still play it and always tell me how amazing it would have been if she made a video for it .. esp after watching the fan made ones I showed them ..this one in particular makes everyone go awww I really wish it was a single .. as far as the the album is concerned ..
