Why being so silent and secretive will ensure her success!

Hype, it's fickle thing. It can generate interest or put off contempt. With her last two albums, "Born This Way" and "ARTPOP", Gaga let the world in on her creative process. Teasing lyrics, revealing titles/concepts, and of course exposing release dates. All of these things have done one of two things.

For fans/general public, it has created an amount of expectancy and hype that only leaves people feeling let down once the music is released.

For other Labels, it gives them the upper advantage to create similar songs (Circa Fireworks, We R Who We R, and ****ing Perfect coming out after Born This Way was announced), and plan their eras to clash with hers.

Keeping a tight lip, like Gaga and her team has with LG5, will only help ensure her success. People are interested and hyped...because they know nothing about it. Artists/Labels are forced to do their own things...because they don't know when she's releasing and what her concept is.

I know it's a struggle for the fans, but being silent is a brilliant marketing strategy. Especially considering no one will forget about her circa 2012 because she's staying in the spotlight with other projects. What do you all think?

But... Firework was written for Teenage Dream (probabaly in 2009) & the album came out in August 2010, and We R Who We R was a single in 2010 as well and she didn't announce BTW till after... lol

And for all we know some of her instagram captions and tweets could have hints, like i only realised yesterday she posted Donatella lyrics in October 2012 but never realised lol

Poor Katy Perry doesn't know what to do with herself, no ideas to use for her next album :lana:

I agree, she should keep being silent for as long as it's necessary. BTW teasing was fine by me though. ARTPOP was way too much, we basically got half of the album 3 months before release, which is an absurdity.

EDIT: But the single was release two months after Gaga announced she was doing a self love/acceptance album. Labels, because she was on top of the pop game, could've pushed for certain songs to be singles to capitalize on this and make Gagas sound unfresh

Also, I mean blatant reveals/hints.

For sure! This is one of the main reasons I'm really looking forward to the next record. With ARTPOP, it felt like a massive let down for me once it actually came out because I felt as if I had already heard the entire thing. If she does anything like this again I will not be listening to anything except the actual singles to reserve judgement on the album itself.

Actually the single was released in October of 2010. Which was well over a month after Gagas announcement, and gave Perry the time to record the song. Especially considering Perry only cowrote the song.

Also, I mean blatant reveals/hints.

Firework existed before BTW was announced, darling.

Yes, I definitely hope that she will not overhype this album. That would show she learned from the past. Let the music speak for itself.

Teenage Dream was released on August 24th, before the VMAs :stalkga:

Sis i'm very critical and aware of Katy and her ways but even I'm not delusional enough to think that and besides the VMAs in 2010 when she announced it were in September and her album was released August 24th, plus most albums are handed in several weeks before release.
