As long as the songs are of good quality and she excels at executing the era when it comes to live performances/interviews/music videos etc, it likely won't be an issue of "...but she was doing so great with jazz! What happened?" etc." I mean, I could see conservative people making that argument, but most people enjoy great pop music tbh. If she truly brings it next era it won't be a step backwards.

No. I do not even believe that fans, of only her voice singing in jazz style, believe that just doing that one album and tour was more than just a break from her usual pop icon status, she took a chance to show her range as an artist. She was right to take advantage of her popularity and status and showcase her talents, do something that she has always wanted to do. Pop music is such a varied genre, Gaga can do a lot within it and never have to go backwards, just by remaining known as that pop icon and delivering great songs. It is really all about the songs. Look at Prince, he is a great example.

I'd love for her to give us The Fame 2.0 but I think she's beyond that point in her career now and I'm sure she won't do a solo Jazz record or touch on full R&B so I'd say her next move should be soft rock. An album full of "You & I", "The Queen", "Princess Die" and "Living on the Radio" type records. Something you can hear blasting through a stadium on a humid night

I don't think it would work for Gaga to do music that is similar to any of her previous pop eras.  If she does pop, it will probably be much different from the past.

I know many people in the GP.  Most have disliked Gaga from the start, but are now coming around to liking her.  If she keeps moving forward as an artist she will keep her new popularity, but if she does a reprise of TF/TFM or BTW she will lose many.

For good or bad LG5 is going to follow-up ARTPOP, which is a very consistent work of pop music and it's Gaga on her hardcore imo. so I don't think that she actually plans to stray too further away from pop.

Nor should she, imo. Even if she tries out with Punk, Jazz and Rock, her voice would still sound POP. I don't think there's any escaping that. 

I just want the songs to be amazing, honestly. and I have a strong feeling they will.

Did OP specifically mean dance-pop? There are many ways to do pop. Pop music is basically just other genres made more accessible.

There are many directions Gaga could go in. I just want the music to be awesome.
