I feel like rockers are taking this to heart way too much, why do you care if a rapper said he's the greatest rock star alive. Like, that alone... lemme not.

its bc anyone thats in a genre that isnt pop/rap thinks they are superior. If some metalhead said this no one would care, but bc he's a black rapper, people think he's being arrogant

That's like Iggy Azalea saying she's the greatest rapper alive...lol. The Rap/HH community would b---h/complain non-stop. They already do b/c of Iggy's presence.

Kanye's always had a knack for being halfway serious and trolling when it comes to outlandish statements. He does say stupid **** and mean it at times (and he's been doing that WAY too often for the past few years), but I think in this specific instance it's also one of those hyperbolic things artists say when they're ~in the moment~ and getting the crowd hyped on stage. Plus, it's kind of statement-making to say he's "the greatest rock star of all time," because that statement is like saying you don't have to be part of the traditional old guard of rock (who were/are predominately white guys) to have that typical s-x, d--gs and rock n' roll aura and to have made music as good as, or better than those rock stars that fans of the genre worship. This also brings to mind an article I read a while back that argued Kanye, Jay Z, Gaga etc, are bascially the modern rock stars of our times.

That said I also doubt this dude even thought much about any of that and is just offended by the surface level arrogance of that statement.

Nah Lance, it's not like that. Because it's the same genre. Need a better a--logy. Iggy raps, Kanye doesn't play guitar and sing.

Sister

lol he is so serious

Life just wouldn't be as fun without Kanye going around being a damn fool though. He often makes me laugh.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
