I've been reading some Michael Jackson articles recently on Wikipedia. Thriller sold 65,000,000 copies worldwide, and I was reading Bad, and it says Michael wanted to aim for 100,000,000 copies sold for Bad, the goal was not met, but it however sold a massive amount of 40,000,000 copies worldwide.

I've been asking myself why isn't Gaga as ambitious as Michael. She was actually, during The Fame to Born This Way. In fact she was still ambitious in the Applause era but we know what Do What U Want did to the whole album. Let's not go there.

So which range of amount do you think Gaga should strive for for LGNEXT?

She should aim for BTW sized sales which would be more than amazing of even higher tbh.I would be happy with Prism-Beyonce sales too tho

Head Empty

None.

It's not about being ambitious or not. Sales shouldn't be the main drive behind writing music or doing promo. Of course Gaga wants to write the best album ever and sell as much as possible, but setting financial expectations for something that's driven by creativity is a bit contrived. It's not how the world works.

I'm not saying she shouldn't want to sell well, but it's not wise to put any numbers on it because it creates unbased expectations.

why are pop fans so obsessed with sales?

she shouldn't strive for anything but making what she wants artistically.

Because that's the way pop fanbases are.. You should get over it :kissga:

She should aim to at least match ARTPOP's sales, which in a changing and more streaming driven industry will be a good feat.

Gaga can be lucky if she achieves ARTPOP sales with her next album. Sales are in a steady decline in general

Nah that's not true... You just think that this happens because a lot of pop artists are flopping.Beyonce,Ed Sheeran,Taylor Swift,Sam Smith etc. are a proof that albums still sell.. I don't know any people in real life that would ever buy a Meghan Trainor,a Nicki Minaj or an Ariana Grande album.
