No. It's actually a VERY common musical line in pop music... Love Again sounds like a lot more songs than "Paparazzi" imo :laughga:

Also, "Open up your heart to the ceiling" and "Promise I'll be kind" have a similar interval jumps and pitch, not melody :saladga: (I think some people think "melody" in place of Rhythm :emma: )

There's probably no influence.

Also, other than that line the verses + pre chorus sound NOTHING alike  Instrumentally/Sonically they are also world's apart

This is a reach tbh. It'd be a close one if you just said "does this one line from CRJ sound like Paparazzi from Gaga" but that's not a sensationalist thread title :hunty:

Carly stan TBH :hunty:

First of all, I never said the entire song was the same, thats why I put 0:01- 0:15 for carlys song. That means from THIS part to THIS part.... :awkney:  Rip off means a piece. she ripped off a "piece" of the song.

and no sh*t, the verses and pre chorus sound NOTHING alike. I never said that. obviously, instrumentally/sonically speaking they don't sound similar.

Also, if it is "a VERY common musical line in pop music", show me other songs that your talking about that sound like this. Show me your recipts... :whitney:

You tire me.

You said "Specifically", which I took to mean "especially" not "exclusively" so obviously there was a misunderstanding/miscommunication :sis: -- Hence my schpeel on the thread title being misleading and sensationalized. I don't think the automatic assumption and connotation behind "rip off" is neutral and exclusive to singular parts, which is what you are now saying was your intention :duck:

People say that things are rip offs of other things; I overwhelmingly hear of it as a collective description. Feel free to disagree

"Rip Off" is a negatively connotated phrase, so I felt the need to defend it, as there's really not "that" much in common between the songs objectively; even the part that you described isn't as obvious or clearly inspired as things that can actually be described as "Rip Offs", so I was summarizing how it overall Is Not. This thread asks a question, so I answered No and explained why by a--lyzing all of the points in the structure of the song... though I voted for Matt Bomer :gaycat:

Overall, I don't find it to be a rip-off, and I think that to say it is based on 1 melodic line that isn't even identical or close is a reach. I'm not saying you are saying "THESE ARE THE SAME THING!" or "SHE CLEARLY COPIED HER" or anything at all, In fact, that was the point of "sensationalized" as in to get people to view the thread, (not because you personally believe this to be true :laughga: ) I was rather stating my opinion as a disagreement to anyone who DOES think these songs are very similar in general.

By common musical line, I just meant the interval jumps and melody in general, not the specific pitch and rhythm, which are different in these two songs. I don't have like every song ive heard that resembles this song at the top of my head :saladga: There was actually quite a discussion about this song sounding familiar to another song on ATRL (both in the EMOTION album thread and another that may have been closed by now or gone far back in the pages  ) and people offered several "similar sounding" songs. They sounded similar varyingly; some as an overall feel, some with just a singular melodic line in common like in this case, and others that sounded nothing alike :smh:

You can scan the thread if you want, I'm not going to do it @ 12am right now :emma:

And I'm sorry I tire you :hunty:
