If Marry The Night was the second single from Born This Way like it was supposed to, would the video be the same?

I think it wouldn't have been the long ass video that we got, but maybe the concept would be the same, and since it was the second single I bet it could have got a better budget and overall a better video

what do you think?

till this date I am still not completeley pleased with the video tbh

I wanted to see more of this

Schieße was supposed to be the second single :emma:

Idk if MTN was ever supposed to be a single, but the video would have been similar because the song revolves on the same concept

if it was the lead, it could have been a Nick Knight X Gaga slayage...

Actually I remember hearing Gaga wanted MTN to be the lead single but if it was released as such idk how well it would have done, despite being a timeless pop masterpiece. :whitney:

no ScheiB was supposed to be the third

MTN was supposed to be the lead, but she changed it for BTW, then it was supposed to be the second and the label chose JUDAS instead (a very big mistake) and then it was supposed to be the third and TEOG happened

the poor sis MTN had its moment to shine when it was way too late :(

I really hope they wouldn't have let her release the final product we got as a 2nd single. The no holds barred, everything dumped on the table, end-era thing was the only way to go I think

I think it would've been different and quite honestly I think the song would've been a huge hit. I think in comparison to Born This Way, Marry the Night would have actually had some real longevity. I know some users don't care for it or at least there were quite a few back in the day (not sure the general stance now) but imo that song had every reason to smash. But by the time it was finally released everyone had already rolled their eyes at her and moved along.

I'm pretty confident that it would have been different. Marry the Night was Gaga's debut as a director, and that confidence came from her directorial debut in Judas.

So if Judas was replaced by Marry the Night as the second single, I'm pretty sure she would have hired a different director instead or at least collaborate with someone else for it. Then maybe the fifth later afterwards would be her directorial debut.

with the BTW hype, MTN could have been a #1 hit very easy, and with the BTW and MTN hype The edge of glory could have been another #1 as well, agh.....

Born This Way had so much potential to be way more bigger than it was

Probably not because Boomkack would be putting in her input

Well then maybe the video would've actually had choreography and editing that actually matched the track...

Your statement is correct.  MTN was supposed to be the lead single but it was changed to BTW.  If MTN would have been picked over Judas, the slayage would have been surreal!  After BTW was at the top of the Hot 100 for 6 weeks, MTN would have easily topped the charts as well.  Since TEOG was chosen as third single, it could have easily gone to the # 1 spot, too!  the slayage of Born This Way would have been phenomenal!  Oh well, I'm happy with what we got.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

It had so much potential. I just think they focused on portions of the album that weren't as cool imo (You and I, Born This Way, The Edge of Glory [which of course would have been a single anyway but coming after BTW/Judas and then being followed with You and I it was like sealed era done]). There was a much darker/edgier portion of the album that I think would've fared much better especially with the dark visual aesthetic she was going for at the time.
