Born This Way for example is not sonically "pop", but it is classified as pop. So this tweet could be taken many ways and is rather vague - LG5, regardless, will probably be labelled as a pop album, even if it is sonically rock or anything else, simply due to Gaga's status as a pop artist. Bad Bromance 5,809 Posted July 2, 2015 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I wouldn't say they are being ignorant I just think SOME of them are patient and aren't expecting anything until she announces what the music will sound like. I myself am opened for a rock album. I'm one of those people that would love a Jagged Little Pill from Gaga but with her own style of course but I'm also being realistic and not having expectations just because she does a few rock covers, wears rock band t shirts and tries to look like a rockstar. People that constantly talk about the next album being rock will be the same people that will have meltdowns if its not and they cant blame Gaga because she never confirmed a rock album. Gaga has hinted many things in the past that never saw the day of light. She's in more control of her career now of course but as long as there's restrictions (which there is) then we can't be too sure of her exploring different other genres. I am expecting some rock influenced songs on the next album. A lot of the things you've stated make total sense and I agree with you that some of the fans, myself included, who are dying for a rock/alternative rock album from Gaga shouldn't have any meltdowns if she releases an album that is pure pop with some rock influences. If people hype themselves up because of the theories flying around in this forum and Gaga ends up releasing a pop album instead, they shouldn't take their frustrations out on Gaga given that she has never confirmed anything concretely yet. Doing so would be unfair to Gaga and would be pretty childish, if you ask me. On the other hand, however, there's nothing wrong with wanting Gaga to release a full-on rock or alternative rock album at this point in her career. She's been around for 7 years! I mean, should we expect her to only do this when she's been around for 10 or 15 years? How is that any different from her jazz album release? Just like the pop fans hype themselves up, the rock fans hype themselves up, as well. As dedicated fans, one can only dream and theorize - anything else is completely uncertain until Gaga confirms it herself. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me. Pop music tends to have certain commonalities but genre can float around a lot. It's very likely Gaga is making a pop album, but I don't know what genre it will be based off. I think people who think "pop" means "dance pop" are just as likely to be disappointed as people who think "rock" means Alice in Chains or something.
