MUCH preferred I Wanna Be With You

I'm really not a fan of her vocal style in Dope at all, it makes me like " " and not in a good way. The instrumental and stuff is fine but it's literally just the vocals that ruin it for me unfortunately :noparty:

- The production sounds like funeral parlor music.

- The vocals are just damn terrible. #Screaming #Moaning #Overpronounced

- The lyrics are extremely dramatic and the metaphor of, "I need you more than dope" is weak.

Bad Bromance

It's my favorite song on ARTPOP.

People are just used to polished, commercial sounding pop music. Dope sounds like a unplugged rock record. Her raspy vocals and the dark moody lyrics + the unfinished production make it a real treat for a true music fan.

This right here!  Dope is truly a masterpiece, imo.  I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea but must we drag this song and ARTPOP through the mud every time we want to express an opinion?  A simple, "no, I don't like the song, tbh." would be sufficient.  :saladga:

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

It's pretty spectacular, as is her vocal performance, and would have slayed my life if there was a proper bridge. :noparty:

Whispering

I love it! I have from the first time I heard it!

Wish Gaga would have performed it at my artRave, but she hadn't added the song to the tour set yet.

Would love to see her work with Rick Rubin again in the future!

I really get the feeling, but an emotional performance doesn't make up for bad lyrics, cheap production, and ear-grating screams in the place of singing in my opinion.

There are plenty of ways to convey passion and guilt through vocals without resorting to screaming.

I agree to your post to some extent.

I think because it is more piano rock-ish.

I mean, the producer of that song is  the.legendary Rick Rubin that produced many rock and metal bands.

To fans that not used to that kind.of sounds, it is more like acquired taste.

But as for me, it is amazing song.

Just her and piano, wow, and her emotions just wow.

i wanna be with you is just so corny.

i'll keep on singing for a living but i wanna be in love

god. sounds like a high school student wrote it. if you switched the two and IWBWY is the actual single, you people would then hate IWBWY and praise dope

lyrics are quite good, melody is intereseting

but her vocals are plain BAD

there are parts where she sounds like she's about to throw up

and that vibrato, campy, ostentatious to the maximum vibrato... she really ruined that song, her voice sounds so try-hardy... tragic, may it not happen ever again :saladga:

Whispering

The lyrics are kinda bad and the vocals are screamy.

What happened to spreading online kindness? I thought you were going to "call out" those bashing ANY artist or their music...not be the one doing it.
