johnpe 916 Posted June 24, 2015 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Do you think Gaga's never ending ambitions to become a timeless music icon who changed the music industry forever are overshadowed by her current efforts to build herself as a global business name and not just as a pop icon, even though she is already iconic.What I mean is that, take Kim Kardashian for example, she's ridiculously famous but she is building an empire off of her name - is it clothes, cosmetics, investing and so on.Isn't Gaga doing just that? No, I'm not talking about the "I'm a pop diva and I make perfumes". Take Asia, she's starting a pet clothing line, food line or working with Apple Music, doesn't this seem to you as a start of a brilliant business strategy? She might not be putting new music out but she's meeting lots of celebrities lately, has been on various public events, travels to countries like Serbia etc. and does all of these mini pop up shows and performances too. She has changed the music industry, but I wouldn't call her a music icon already. She's not even 10 years in the game and even though she changed it a lot, unless people in 20 years know who she is, I wouldn't call her an icon.
