But slow R&B was a dominant trend and thus "generic" much longer than EDM pop, at least in the States. Mariah and Beyonce pretty much refused to move on from it already.

With Gaga doing jazz and Rihanna's R8 singles, it's pretty obvious the EDM trend is over, yet oddly people talk as if anyone doing a slow song is so brave and non-commercial.

You do not get the message, it seems?

What I am trying to say is for the people to enjoy the music than too busy trying to change who she is and her sounds.

She is R&B through and through with some pop and rock here and there.

She bring back this sounds because this is her sounds, the one she feel comfortable with to do.for a return.

And the one that her fans will appreciate with.

It is.not about praisingbsomeone to.do slow jamz, I don't give two fxcks about that.

But it is tiring to see comments that belittle a songbjust because it is not upbeat without questioning why.

oh, wow

this is the sound that has really been absent from mainstream music for awhile

a classic Janet Jackson song. go girl!

on a side note,I think Janet is showing much more maturity and class with this song, unlike some other act that was one of her main rivals in 80-90's :reductive2:

Janet gave an interview in the early nineties and was asked about the comparison between her and Madonna. She responded saying that she thinks her artistry has "class to it". Only to make 230398339 more songs about s-xual intercourse and letting out a titty at the SuperBowl. I love Janet but that was a low dig and let's face it, Madonna won. I love both of them but Madonna never left the building while Janet is constantly in and out of her career. Yes Janet's current sound could be described as "mature" but this song is still about s-x, so people saying Madonna is too old to do what she does but praise Janet are simply people who cannot see beyond the surface. Both are "mature" ladies singing about s-x and still keeping up and active.

Madonna became the highest selling solo act and female act of all time in the 3rd decade of her career, while Janet was somewhere on a private beach with her husband. There's no competition. No matter how Janet fans twist and turn it, Madonna beat everyone. She's the only artist, not just female, who was relevant in the eighties, the nineties, the thousands and in this decade. Everyone else can go home. They call her the queen for a reason.

She is R&B through and through with some pop and rock here and there.

At her Control and Rhythm Nation peak she was known as a dance artist, just like Madonna, Kylie, and Paula Abdul.

After 1996 she went solidly R&B to keep up with trends, but was unable to flurish in the 00's like Madonna and Kylie. Ironically, Janet's image was classier when she was dancet, and she tackled serious themes about race in Rhythm Nation.
