She was able to change an unfair rule that will now help a lot of people. How does that make her look like a fool? :rip:

No, now Taylor just looks like the most powerful celebrity that has enough impact to change one of the biggest companies' rules :rip:

this was a direct response to her letter. They're only changing because of what she wrote and the support its gotten. Apple bends it's knee for Queen Tay   ha power

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Why you assumed they changed something? To me it sounds as if they are clarifying a point.

This is pretty awesome. I can't help but wonder if this is how things were gonna be from the beginning, or if Taylor's impact made Apple change their policy.

Very smart move from Apple. Now they get positive press & 1989. And if Taylor still refuses to allow the streaming of 1989 - Apple will seem like the good guy while Taylor will be seen as a big mouth Tumblr hypocrite.

In an interview with Billboard, Cue elaborated that it was Swift's letter that turned him around on the issue. "When I woke up this morning and saw what Taylor had written, it really solidified that we needed a change. And so that's why we decide we will now pay artists during the trial period."

Cue added that Apple had heard the same "concern from a lot of artists," noting that it was "never our intent" to not compensate artists, rather they were planning to originally negotiate a higher royalty rate, which they will stick with.

Asked if Apple is eating the cost of the 90-day trial period, Cue said, "We're certainly paying for it, yes. We're all in."

Once the decision was made by Cue and Apple CEO Tim Cook, Cue called Swift on the phone from her tour in Amsterdam. "I let her know that we heard her concerns and are making the changes. We have a long relationship with Taylor so I wanted her to hear directly from us."

Swift's reaction: "She was thrilled and very thankful and excited to see how quick we responded."

Is there literally anything she can't do?  Single-handedly changing music mogul Apple's streaming service contracts in less than a day

More details.  It seems like Taylor's letter and other artist complaints did prompt the change.  Eddy Cue called Taylor about it.  The royalties paid during the free trial won't be the same as the payouts for paying subscribers, though.  So she still might not put 1989 on the service.

That's actually amazing :legend: She herself wouldn't lose out much and I doubt she really needs backing from Apple nowadays, but regardless she used her power for good to help those who would be negatively affected :flutter:

Taylor is amazing.  Good for her to be the one to step up publicly in an open letter and call them out in an intelligent manner and get the obvious thing done on this, artists paid.  You go, girl.  Apple is valued at around a 700 billion dollar company.  Edit.  I read newer material saying they are close to being a 1 trillion dollar company.  They didn't need bad goodwill going in as the big corporate giant not caring about musical artists' work product..  Look at Tidal and their fiasco roll-out.  Apple turned this around quick and it was smart of them to do so.
