Neal 768
What would make sense is if Apple said the artist/label/writers/etc. won't be compensated for those 3 months, but AFTER those 3 months the money they get from subscribers and ad revenue they will use to retroactively pay them. That way instead of being like "Yeah, we'll use your music to get people to sign up and you won't get paid for 3 months," which is ****ty, they can say "We understand you will be losing money as you join us on this endeavor for the first three months, but we will give you the money you deserve when the app takes off." And if the app doesn't take off, both parties recognize that it was a risk. The three month trial starts not at the same time for everyone, but independently as each user "activates" the Apple Music membership. It's not a July-September period for everyone. I agree with Taylor on this one. Some of you didn't even read her letter as evident with your replies. She's saying she can support herself (duh) but she's more worried about the indie artists out there. She's not greedy. I think Apple is on the wrong side of the coin with this one. Lastly, this is NOT Apple's material. They are promoting THEIR service, with ARTIST'S material. It doesn't matter if Apple gets paid or not, but the artists should be paid. chris777 112
She has a good point. I agree with her on this.I don't think she is greedy. I wouldn't like to receive 0 coins for my work either.
Houdini 103
If it was an emergent artist you would be all called his/her genius and stuff but because it's an artist with million she's greedy. Get a side seriously
thefamebitch 834
Yet indie artists are still going to put their music on the streaming service... I'm sure an indie artist would be happy to get their name recognized finally on something (regardless if they are being paid).
Redstreak 6,653
then they shouldn't join. that's it but taylor? She is a well known artist who has enough money to have THE PRIVILEGE to give her music away for "free" (lmao Apple music is not even free) and make a lot of people listen to it. She has the chance to make her art arrive to a bigger audience. I haven't listened to her last album and I buy music. But I like to listen to an album on Spotify, and if I like it I buy a physical version. So I am not buying it. Please, again, she is deleting videos of her tour on youtube is there something more greedy than that? She's not deleting them. She actually shares them on Twitter. Why would she delete videos she herself shared? Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
LePetitGAGABLover 21,234
Oh Taylor. You can't win against Apple Spotify, yes. But Apple, no.
FGGrayson 9,670
only fr those 3 months? that's bull****!! omg she's just a ... 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗮 • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗲 • 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗲-𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗼𝗿 • 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻
Redstreak 6,653
I'm just gonna say it. Majority of you who disagree are just letting your biases show. You'd absolutely be screaming QUEEN if you're faves wrote this. Maybe you're all just too cynical to believe that someone could actually want to be a voice for others. I think actual artists know the industry well enough to know what 3 months of free work could cost to someone starting out, not those sitting behind a screen on a couch. DrewStevens 5,249
Well I think artists should decide if they want to be part of this or not. Also they are going to have to decide if they want to be independent musicians or be part of the music industry. Sometimes in business you won't get money for everything you do. Is it fair? Maybe not but that's how any industry and job works. But that doesn't mean everyone has to agree and be part of this. The only thing I don't get is why is she only not sharing her latest album but she is sharing all her past material? PaperIz 7,346
Okay so she doesnt need the money, but smaller artists do and as a big artist, it's good to set an example that you can stand up against people trying to take away your money, even if you have a lot. Redstreak 6,653
And if many of you actually read it. She says she would love to work with Apple on their service as she feels they would be the company to perfect it. She's not against streaming, she just disagrees with 3 months of no compensation for anyone. Kacey Elizabeth 900
It's not the end of the world if she, producers, other songwriters and artists don't get pay for 3 months. It's no big deal. Your Candy Perfume Girl
FFXSoul91 1,098
I agree with some of her sentiments, but her feigned concern for smaller artists is unconvincing.
Morphine Prince 105,758
They should be getting paid at least SOMETHING those 3 months... I thought this was just her thinking she's not earning enough like the Spotify ordeal, but she does have a point this time.
