How do you know this?

It's in Dutch but here's the original article. It's about Tom, who started out for Gaga as an assistant to Nicola and his assistant Anna. He left with everyone else around the time of the Born This Way Ball. Gaga requested him back because she wasn't happy with the outfits her team pulled for her in London in 2013. Gaga asked him to return right before the iTunes Festival. He quit again after X-Factor because (according to the article below) "it just didn't feel right anymore". In the article he talks about her wig looking cheap and the seashell falling off, that the entire thing was a last-minute mess and that before, during TFM/BTW, the fashion used to be way more planned and thought out. He's now Kylie's main stylist but says he called Gaga for her birthday and they are on good terms.

Another team member quit, and this I know through a friend who's that members friend, because the schedule was just a mess. She's rather private so I'd prefer not to name her. However she was a logistic assistant mainly, so no, I am definitely not an "insider" or close to one. Just a coincidence.

What a flop fan I am. I never thought this was a "messy" performance. Actually I think it is quite entertaining. And yes, DWUW performance seems strange and not in place next to Venus but overall I think it was really good. The vocals were amazing.

I actually liked that one, Venus was great, but then she started with DWUW and... well. :awkney:

Changing Venus for DWUW was the biggest mistake of the era, since the moment they changed the single, everything went down and it crashed with that Dope performance. It frustrates me when I think about how bad was everything done.

omg i knew something like that was goiing around. It wasnt only her management but more people who left her..

Working with her, especially during that time, I can understand why some wanted out. They are on call 24/7. Imagine.

One of them. But this was a situation where it was out of her control and she did the best she could under the circumstances. We know that, so it is a little unfair to criticize it harshly.

My choice for the messiest would be her Telephone/Dance in the Dark medley. Certainly her most pretentious. A good idea, but absolutely zero melody or flow.

This is the performance i immediately thought of when i read the title of this thread.

This made Gaga an absolute laughing stock to everyone i know that has seen the performance. I remember everyone in my work at the time taking the piss out of her :(
Luckily shes winning them back with her recent performances though :P

I know right ? The fact that Venus was even considered to be a single over DWUW in the first place was insane. Venus wouldve bombed sooooooooooooooooo badly.
If they had planned DWUW as a single from the beginning it couldve been her biggest hit since Born The Way.

This and DWUW at Saturday Night Live. They were truly awful.

In my messy era.

Painful to watch. The SNL performance of DWUW is up there too.

My god, you could clearly FEEL her pain, that ****ing Troy Carter really hurt her.

I'm fine with a FLOP in the next era, but as long as she's happy with music, videos and performances (and singles choice) I'm fine with it. I'm dead serious.

tbh it could have still been her biggest hit if we got the MV.

It would have been super controversial, she would have been talked about like crazy, get super strong streaming points....

Or even if she just performed it at the Youtube awards instead of Dope, but there is no use crying over that now....  :reductive2:

if this is true I feel bad for Gaga, wasn't she just basically on her own at this point with no manager? So I could imagine the frustration BTS.

Nah, this is ok. It's just not brilliant, it's only on the level of what most current popstars do...
SXSW is the messiest by far...she was super high, kind of confused and angry and it shows...even die hard fans were weirded out by the performance at first...

yeah I agree. Especially when gaga admitted sxsw was for attention and not much else. It seemed really desperate especially after the mismanagement of ARTPOP. Whether it was her decision or her labels to do something crazy, I dont know but it seemed way to desperate. Kinda disappointing but I'm okay with it now.

OP: I like how stripped back it is. Vocals are great, visuals are not but you don't need btwb visuals in every performance. It does seem rushed though.

It was the beginning of the end with Troy Carter, yes. It all really was creative differences. You always hear that as an excuse in all situations when people stop working together but it was the case with Gaga in 2013. Troy and the team wanted her back on top and she tried but didn't feel 100%, she wanted to plan everything on her own terms. She cared about success of course and I'm sure she still does, but she wouldn't compromise. Gaga, Troy and Vincent were a golden trio in the beginning of her career because they were in sync. They all wanted mainstream, dominant success and she worked her ass off to get it. As much as she preached that she had "mastered the art of fame" and the "breakdown" was prophetically included in her Paparazzi video, she really couldn't handle it, it wasn't calculated. In that article, the assistant describes her as being "a strong woman who truly wanted the best for her fans but was still locked in her hotel room watching Disney movies on the floor." Gaga felt betrayed because she thought everyone wanted her, as a person, to be back in form after her hip problem, instead she saw they just wanted to cash in again. I'm sure the pressure for the regular people around her (assistants and others) was insane.
