They sound as though coming from a source that is older and forgotten, and that is because indeed they are. These sounds are from rituals of a distance past.BUT, Lady Gaga doesn’t know that. Artists rarely understand where their inspiration comes from. The only difference between Lady Gaga and her contemporaries is that she was a bit more open to ideas that were “outside the box” of pop music during her rise to prominence. She has no idea where these sounds come from. She has no idea what they mean. She has no idea why the public gravitated to them so strongly when those songs were released.The same could be said of the symbolism she uses throughout her music videos and this applies to other artists like Rihanna and Katy Perry equally as much.
