ummm different types of music so i dunno

Taylor did write 1 entire album by herself which Gaga never did

but taylor always writes about same things so its not that hard to recycle ideas and just change them up a little :rip:

over-all i say gaga cause she has a wider spectrum of what she can write

Well, I really adore Tay's song writing. She's a very good story teller and her lyrics are poetic yet they're easy to relate with. She can also make catchy melody. She's amazing!

But...

I would still pick the songwriting ICON awardee. Gaga's amazingness in making catchy tunes is just superb. Her clever and extrinsic lyrics is what I also adore in her. :applause:

Taylor is very good at making fun and relatable  songs, in a way that is catchy, honest, and not cliche. So in that respect, she is very talented.

However, Gaga is DEFINITELY a more diverse and creative writer, in the sense that she can create music with layers upon layers of meaning, as well as truly detach herself from normal life and write lyrics that are purely new and previously unimagined.

So, I'd say Gaga. Her music is in a world of it's own, and that's something that is to be commended!

They're both good, with different strengths and weaknesses and totally different styles.

I can't speak for technical ability in music writing, but in terms of lyrical quality, Gaga has a poetic way of writing. But on the other hand, I like that Taylor simplifies herself a bit more and doesn't use symbolism as heavily.  I'm gonna say Gaga is better, but I also think it's a tough choice. I like both for different reasons.

Kermit

We are a generation twisted by our myth
Confused and ludicrous, holding on to love
Consumed by all the pleasures in our midst
A life without the lips we've kissed
And losing all control

We're gonna start a resistance
So we want independence
We're gonna give the world some of this

Electric kiss
I'm gonna change the world with my lips
One voice forever
We'll live together
Peace, love, solitude and happiness
Electric kiss

Fame is our felony
We're so in love with it
Superstars and masochists
Who don't know where to go
But the poets and the fathers of our time
Put down their weapons in their arms
And know what they must do

We're gonna start a resistance
So we want independence
We're gonna give the world some of this

Electric kiss
I'm gonna change the world with my lips
One voice forever
We'll live together
Peace, love, solitude and happiness

Electric kiss
I'm gonna change the world with my lips
One voice for ever
We'll live together
Peace, love, solitude and happiness
Electric kiss

Taylor is one dimensional with her songwriting NEEDING to be fueled by her quickie relationships...

Gaga talks about DEEP and CONTROVERSIAL topics...religion, politics, s-x, love, her past experiences, d--gs etc...

Gaga wins :applause:

Taylor and Gaga can both write catchy music, but I prefer Gaga. Taylor's music is too repetitive for my taste. Gaga can write a song that has meaning upon meaning upon meaning.

At least both actually write their own music :sis:

Literally the only reason I'm not a Taylor stan is because I can't stand her music  there's something...unappealing about it...I think the repetitiveness and the fact that it's 90% heartbreak/relationship/love songs is why...gah.

They're doing different things, so the comparison doesn't even make that much sense...but, despite their differences, they're essentially on the same level...

Quite frankly, I think Gaga still has cards up her sleeve...I wouldn't be surprised if she eventually pushed her songwriting to the next level and started penning deeper, more personal, more complex songs...I'd SO be here for that! Let your interior Joni Mitchel shine, Gags!

Just listen to what this queen wrote at age 16 about fame!

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

You can debate Taylor is a better songwriter than Gaga but then you can also debate that Gaga is a better songwriter than Katy.

Gaga has a wider spectrum of things she writes about, she doesn't rely solely on her relationships and is able to draw inspiration from things happening around her/in the world. However, some of Taylor's songwriting is absolutely amazing - simple yet complex but also relatable which is always a bonus.

I don't think we are able to compare them because of how different they are and how differently they approach songwriting in general.

At the risk of being given a warning I must say... Is this a freakin' joke honey? Lady Gaga is way better, she's a lyrical genius, Taylor Swift on the other hand? Writes music for 5 years old.

Although I really like Taylor Swift and her catchy songs, Gaga is hands down better at songwriting than Taylor because of her diverse style of songwriting.  Gaga can write all kinds of songs that pertain to politics, religion, fame, her biggest fears, d--g abuse, s-xual liberation, and of course love and heartache.

We mustn't forget that Gaga also writes metaphorically, which makes her a songwriting genius, imo.  I guess, you can for whom I voted in your poll @Jude.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
