It really simulates that "high" feeling in the middle of a song that is quite heavy. Dope is one of Gaga's best songs if you ask me. I understand that people have different tastes, but "atrocious" seems like a strong term. And Gaga has some really great bridges if you ask me. The ones Yanko already mentioned, but also Judas, Poker Face, and a ton of others are amazing as well. However, I simply can not tolerate that slurring type of singing she does on the song, it's honestly horrible to my ears.
