During Apple Music's launch announcement, presenters touted a generous three month free trial period for its new streaming music service. But when it launches on June 30th, artists, labels and other rights holders will not receive any compensation for the billions of songs streamed by the millions likely to take advantage of Apple's three free months.

They took FOREVER to make deals with the labels, maybe that's why.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Well it makes sense from a business standpoint. If they gave artists royalties when Apple themselves weren't making a profit, then they would have to spend the time after those 3 months to climb out of a hole of negative profit instead of starting to profit immediately after the 3 months are up.

In business, you don't always (or in most cases ever) immediately turn a profit.

Idk, everyone gets a free trial for the first three months so I guess Apple doesn't want to pay until they get paid.

I doubt it. I'm almost sure the first 3 months will be coming out of Apple's pockets.

No worries. Gaga is not likely to release anything in the next 3 months so homegirl will still get ha coins when the time comes

I'm sure they're going to get SOME compensation, even if it's minimal!
