Delete 258
You. Sound. Like. A. Dying. Whale. In. Heat. Live. Stick to making catchy studio versions of bland pop music. Everyone knows "Thinking of You" is the only song that has any realistic depth. (Firework is fake) My weave is glued in extra tight stans, so you better rip hard. I'm ready. Branson 4
What is everyone's least favorite on Teenage Dream? We can include the Complete Confection as well. Mine would have to be "Circle The Drain", but I still like that song. Seriously I've said it again and again, but Teenage Dream is like the epitome of a perfect pop album Hope I don't get slaughtered for this, but mine would have to be Pearl. I enjoy it from time to time, but it has absolutely no replay value for me.

Killer Queen216 0
This seems to be the month for releasing album news. Katy' album won't be released until well after August, so that'll make it over 3 years since she released an album (her re-release doesn't count). That's a very risky move for a pop star. Rock stars, soul stars, country stars, etc. have taken long breaks after hugely successful albums but outwith MJ and Madonna, no popstar has ever tried this and succeeded. Pop stars generally have to release an album every 1-2 years to stay on top or else people just move on. Check Xtina's sales to see how much the public cares about popstars who take long breaks. This is why Justin Bieber puts out re-release, Christmas and remix albums in between studio albums, Rihanna's churning out annual November albums and One Direction are about to release their third consecutive album and announcing a tour a year in advance. Their labels know that without constantly being in people's faces, they would be over. Katy fits into this category. Her singles are more successful than her albums. Doesn't it seem strange that an album with six #1's and two top three hits in the US has only sold 2.6 million there? Doesn't it also seem strange that an album whose first two singles went to #1 in the US only sold 192,000 copies in the first week there? Artists who haven't had that success have sold a million in the first week in the US before. Katy also has shockingly poor tour grosses. She performed in some of the world's smallest arenas because she had to take money anywhere she could get it. Interest in her tour should've been off the scale in America but it was actually very subdued and even though she did a lot of arenas there, they were nowhere near packed out despite the tickets being really cheap. Someone with that much success should not be scraping a mere $59 million with a world tour. And let's not start on Katy's inability to win prestigious awards that actually mean something. Katy's weaknesses are Gaga's strengths. Now, of course I'm not delusional. Katy's lead single is going to be highly anticipated by radio stations but some artists can go from hero to zero after a mega successful album. It's like radio thinks you've had your time in the sun and they want to support other artists now. Anything that deviates outwith the Teenage Dream formula may not be well receieved by radio. She's also been so over saturated on their airwaves that they may be sick of her and don't want another two years of hits from her. The radio is crying out for new Gaga music and her long awaited return alone will be enough for radio to start playing her lead single on repeat. She'll have radio deals and top notch promotion above and beyond everyone else's with the new, exciting concept of an app and a completely new image. Katy will never have an era like Teenage Dream again and I think her new era is going to bring her down to earth with a bump. She's going to be dealing with the same public who gave Beyonce some of the biggest hits of her career with Sasha Fierce and then let 4 flop spectacularly and the same public who completely rejected J-Lo when she quit American Idol. She rose, now she has to inevitably fall, even if only for a short time. She'll be 29 when the album's released too. And the world doesn't take kindly to female popstars who don't start displaying depth in their work at that age. The big 3-0 is a dangerous time for female artists. It's an age where they start to be considered old and an age where problems start occuring in their careers in a way that doesn't affect male artists. Its happened to the best of 'em. Katy had better start developing and maturing her music soon if she wants to survive that stage. So well put- you just worded my opinon of KP in a way I never could! I don't hate Katy, but I do think she (her label) saw an opportunity to cash in with TD and did just that. They hit the mark perfectly (singles wise), and reaped the benefits. But that luck likely will run out, or at least lose some steam. KP may think she has it in the bag, but she doesn't. She's not the energizer bunny that is Rihanna's radio success. Nor does she have Gaga's star power. If anything, "Part of Me" (the movie) displayed what little star power she has due to it's weak numbers. Again, I don't hate Katy, she has put out a string of super catchy, radio friendly hits and is likeable. But I am SUPER interested to see what her next era holds for her. I wish her the best because truly I don't see her as a threat to Gaga, in the long run.

Lum 315
Now, which half of the album does everyone enjoy more? The more pop-radio first half (Teenage Dream, LFN, Cali Girls, Firework, Peacock Circle The Drain) or the darker, ballad-y second half (TOTGA, E.T., WAILF, Pearl, Hummingbird <3beat, Movies)? I much prefer the second half. It slays
