Mills 446 Posted January 10, 2014 Share Posted January 10, 2014 At this point in time, Unconditionally and DWUW performed very similar from a U.S stand-point Both have 700,000+ sales Both were Top 10 on Pop radio (#8 for Uncon and #8 for DWUW so far) and both had peaks within the Top 15 of Billboard's Hot 100 chart (DWUW at #13 and Uncon at #14) Agreed. Hence the more it shouldn't be regarded as a "flop", given that its chart performance isn't that bad to begin with. It under-performed, similar to the second singles of most of her contemporaries (from Rihanna's You Da One and Gaga's Judas and DWUW) - mainly driven by the massive success of their respective lead singles (Roar, We Found Love, Born This Way, and to an extent Applause). And yeah, it's beyond impossible for a mere non-entry into the top 10 to negatively affect PRISM, or worse, Katy Perry's career. As Arturo pointed out, KP's third single Dark Horse is guaranteed to become a huge seller (well, it already is). Even without a proper promotional campaign, that single has already sold more than a million in the US alone, and now it's #1 on iTunes.
