Spock 20,290 Posted June 6, 2015 Share Posted June 6, 2015 How did Taylor slayed Katy when Katy was busy touring & released her last single 9 months ago and did not even promoted it, while Taylor had hype around her all the time, received lots of promotion, performed at award shows, TV programs, talk shows, festivals, and etc... and released her album along with multiple singles? The touring excuse is BS. Gaga was busy with The Monster Ball and still slayed every b---h in town. Taylor herself was busy touring when the Bad Blood promo started. So if you want to promote your singles and be successful while touring, you can. God only knows why Capitol decided to sabotage Prism's success with those single choices (even though I like them) and no promo. But that's another matter. Starting with California Girls, Katy became known as a singles artist. She sold songs like ****ing crazy and had okay success with album sales. I remember the Teenage Dream sales estimates getting downsized twice. Yes, Prism sold well but it wasn't the huge mammoth everybody expected it to be after the TD era. The estimates also kept being downsized and on top of that, the reviews were incredibly lukewarm. Taylor, on the other hand, snatched with 1989s sales. I mean, 1989 is still non-consecutively at like #3 on the BB200 or something and is almost at like 8M. Yes, like 70% of that is from the US but so what? This is her first mainstream pop release and successfully crossed over. Nuff said. She also became a force to be reckoned with singles and streaming wise and got glowing reviews and praise. 1989 is also a favorite for AOTY. All of this in a market that, two years after Prism, is even more hostile towards pop music and is even more in the pits. Spock 20,290 Posted June 6, 2015 Share Posted June 6, 2015 I've been thinking about this too Taylor is approaching her TFM era, the whole world will be waiting for her next release Hopefully Gaga releases between february-april, while Taylor in Q4 so they don't have to fight (and yes I would like new stuff in january but it's Gaga, we are not so lucky ) When I think about that, I pee my pants a little But yeah, it's going to suck. If you've seen the video, it seems like they're ''fighting'' against Katy in it Not sure what the concept is though, definetely inspired by Kill Bill or some kind of splatter/humorous/fighting movie.
