Guest ARTPOPSlays
Have you ever noticed that during the Fame era and the beginning of The Fame Monster era Gaga's voice was deeper? I've been wondering this for a looooong time now. It's an interesting question in my opinion. I mean, her voice was higher before The Fame and even in the actual album, unless they pitched the vocals on the album which I don't think they did. Does anybody know the reasoning behind this? Maybe she made her voice sound that way because she wanted to? I think that it fits the style of The Fame completely

Didymus 34,379
Definitely a conscious decision. She definitely forced her voice to sound the way it did on The Fame tho. You can hear that clearly when she performs those songs now or even already at the MB.

monsterdreams 1,529
Maybe she just wanted the album to sound like that, quite robotic in a way Haters gonna need more than a flashlight for my shade
Bitch 180
Idk why but she had a pretty deep voice during the fame era
Alien Tulip 12,428
Two words: Coke Cain You clearly have never done c-----e. Have you watched Gaga's interview of the Conversation? She said she hasn't done c-----e since 2006/2007. That vanity fair interview in 2010 just paraphrased her interview which is why she was angry about it. BeerFear 5,915
Her voice was so unique and raspy back then. She improved a lot vocally but imo she lost that little touch which made her voice special.
ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Definitely a conscious decision. She definitely forced her voice to sound the way it did on The Fame tho. You can hear that clearly when she performs those songs now or even already at the MB. I think its a mixture of this and her voice naturally deepening with her smoking or whatever. It's possible that it was easy for her to sing like this when she was actually recording the album, but by the time she had finished it got harder so she dropped it. Afterall, her voice on The Fame resembles her singing voice on Red & Blue as well. Her unreleased tracks tend to sound like it too. I kind of preferred her singing voice like that tbh It seemed more distinct to me as "Gaga" and all that that entailed; the enigma, the pop princess attitude, everything TFM came and she could still sound like that at times, but it was definitely a darker record vocally too. She would sound soo different if she sang "The Fame" on tour today 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

She sounds different now because her voice evolved over time or perhaps I should say recovered. It's almost impossible to keep your voice that way all the time and even if it's possible I don't think Gaga was doing that. Her voice was so deep to the extend that she had to pitch Just Dance when she sings it live.
