Andreyw 4,285
it's sad to see people everywhere mock TIDAL, when most of them only jump on the hate-bandwagon and don't even educate themselves about what it really is, and only see it as a masterplan for artists to earn money. of course they're trying to earn money, but that's not what it's all about. And it's sad to know that most people don't care about or can't tell the difference between bad and good quality, and would rather listen to a grainy mp3 ripped from youtube than how the song is actually intended to be listened to. Music is not a human right. it's a product, it's valuable, a lot of time and energy goes into making it, not only from the artists, but everyone that is a part of the process. oh well this is the future i guess..They make a lot of money from tours. Why do they need so much money from some quick lil' singles and some albums? What happens to them is because of their greed , they don't even care about songwriters and stuff ( ex : beyonce stealing writing credits when she could've not since she doesn't write lyrics , but oh well...) Let's not pretend it's something else that has quality... These big name artists are trying to get more royalties without thinking about who owns the rights to their songs... So yes let this crap streaming service die...

Let's not pretend it's something else that has quality... These big name artists are trying to get more royalties without thinking about who owns the rights to their songs... So yes let this crap streaming service die... it's a streaming service that offers great quality, and it pays the artist and songwriter better than spotify does. And not only big name artists are on tidal. how would you feel if you dedicated your life to making music and then people just say "why should you get payed lol you're already rich". Mind you, only a VERY small percentage of artists actually make any real money, especially from touring. Beyonce and jay Z aren't the only artists in the world. They make a lot of money from tours. Why do they need so much money from some quick lil' singles and some albums? What happens to them is because of their greed , they don't even care about songwriters and stuff ( ex : beyonce stealing writing credits when she could've not since she doesn't write lyrics , but oh well...)not all acts make a lot of money from tours. and why should they make money off of singles and albums? well, maybe because THEY MADE THEM. And they had engineers, producers, sometimes writers, session players, etc that spent a lot of time and money on making the music. Do people today REALLY take music that much for granted? that they won't pay for it and hope that a streaming service they don't even HAVE to use fails, "just because? humans, I swear.. But the service seems to be failing and the fact that they are having issues with licensing/labels tells me that maybe things weren't planned out as well as they should have been. This seems like a very ambitious project with several large names attached to it, with a lot of trust/faith by other artists at the forefront. Surely it would benefit the founders to try and have everything squared away before the launch. I'll admit, I don't know one thing about the music industry (so forgive me if I am talking out of my ass) but if I was an artist, even a big named one, that was counting on Tidal streaming, exclusives and such to promote my music/era I would want everything to be perfectly ran and in place before I put music out on that service, especially if I was asked to participate in conferences, ads, etc to promote said service.I'm not necessarily saying it's a bad idea, I just think the launching of it should have waited until everything was settled. All the bad press seems to be really hurting the brand and those attached to it. It makes everything appear messy. It really surprises me because I always considered Jay-Z and Beyonce to be very business savvy, and they are veterans of the music industry, so they should have real insight into what a music artist would need most. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

StrawberryBlond 13,941
I knew it, Jay wouldn't let Beyonce flop by making a Tidal exclusive album. He's happy to use Rihanna and Nicki as guinea pigs, however. I think this just proves that he and Beyonce are all in this for the money and benefits for them alone. They won't want to flop if they can avoid it, so are happy to jump ship when needed, but to hell with everyone else.it's sad to see people everywhere mock TIDAL, when most of them only jump on the hate-bandwagon and don't even educate themselves about what it really is, and only see it as a masterplan for artists to earn money. of course they're trying to earn money, but that's not what it's all about. Music is not a human right. it's a product, it's valuable, a lot of time and energy goes into making it, not only from the artists, but everyone that is a part of the process. oh well this is the future i guess..Actually, most of us have researched it, which is why we don't want part of it. We've seen it for the BS it is. It's just another streaming service, albeit an absurdly expensive one. If it's not about artists earning more money, what is it about? The whole point of it, as stated in the mission statement, is to pay artists more money compared to the leading streaming sites. All this claptrap about it being a unique way for artists to connect with their fans and the beginning of music industry evolution was just fancy words to fool the easily led.Ok, some people were championing illegal downloads, but not everyone was. People like me were pointing out that simply buying (legally) the albums you liked was cheaper than paying for a membership to a streaming service that charges you monthly to merely listen to (not own) music. Lily Allen said that paying this much a month is only worth it if you buy 12 or more albums a year and very little people do that. Some people don't even listen to 12 albums a year. Can you imagine if cinemas charged you the price of buying a DVD to merely watch a film once in a theatre? That's what paying for a streaming subscription basically is. That's why I don't understand why anyone does it. The music is available to listen to for free on YouTube and the free option on Spotify and buying an album as and when you want it is cheaper than paying a monthly rate to listen to it.Yes, music is valuable, but no one needs to be paid this much to make it. Singers that haven't had a hit in years are still mega rich. Some artists on Tidal live in a mansion, have several cars, yachts, private jets, designer clothes, diamonds, every luxury known to man. And they're still insisting they don't get paid enough. How much more do they want/need? They're never going to spend all their money in a lifetime. A million dollars could last the average person from birth to death. The average A-list artist makes a million dollars per gig on tour. Think about that for a moment and put things into perspective.
