Guest ARTPOPSlays Posted May 23, 2015 Share Posted May 23, 2015 It's not particularly a favorite era of mine but I have to be thankful because I get to see Gags in 2 weeks at the royal albert hall and I'm near the front, I've never seen gaga live before so it's gonna be greatI'm so happy that you are finally able to see her!! I saw her at the artRAVE at TD Garden in Boston, I was supposed to see the btwb which was supposed to be in Boston, but we all know what happened with that ? and now I'm seeing her at Radio City Music Hall in New York with Tony!! The album is really good and has a nice collection of classic standards. It was/is a really great era. We can watch her shine on stage with little to distract the audience from her talent and charisma. She won a Grammy which gave her critical acclaim. She's also able to show her versatility as a performer and more importantly she seems so happy and relaxed doing it. Tony has really been great at giving her back her confidence! Because of this era and the support she has received, I think her mind has fully been freed to create some great music on her own. For the people that didn't like Jazz I'm sure they will be more than pleased with her next solo effort because she is coming off a self confident high she is going to be extra ambitious with the next album.Cheek to Cheek is the album that gave her the best of everything that people (certainly here) have complained she has been lacking. Jazz was the chart-topping pop music of it's day. All the songs she's done are great classics renowned on Broadway or film. I mean, how many threads do we have dedicated to the charts/sales and how many people treat the charts/sales as the standard of which to judge whether music is good or not? Even older artists are judged by such from back in the day here, and Cheek to Cheek contains all the stuff that was a hit with the GP back then (and judging by how well it's done at least respected by the GP now). For the people that are more obsessed about charts, GP approval, sales, aka the bling then the actual music and Gaga's creative journey, here she is putting out an album with a legendary performer that has all the bling attached (critical approval, GP approval, awards, good sales). For the rest of us, we are given stellar performances, improved vocal prowess, and a more confident, happy, and creatively inclined Gaga with ambition to show the world what she can really do.
