This thread is now being unlocked, any further rudeness and personal attacks will be given instant warning points. If it gets even a bit messy then the thread will just be locked indefinitely - why can't people have discussion without resorting to insulting each other? :noparty:

Remember guys, you can debate and disagree and argue with opinions as much as you want but it must be in a mature manner which doesn't slip into getting fiesty and rude towards users. It's a forum to discuss so let's discuss in the right way

I'm actually looking forward to this release now that she has promised a new change in direction.. If Gaga featured on Katy's next one and Katy featured on Gaga's hopefully the whole Roar/Applause debate won't happen again.

This is gonna get interesting. I'm glad they are both taking more than two years between albums. Makes me so thirsty.

Katy is not ordered by her record label to do anything. Even the CEO of Capitol said that Katy is pretty much the brains of her operation, meaning that Katy is in complete control of her career, image, and music and has a direct hand on everything in her career, image, and music.

Please, Katy has millions of fans. There are millions of KatyCats around the world. How many you have exactly met? Plus, the critics who write reviews of Katy's shows sometimes say that Katy's crowd and audience in her shows are 8 to 80 years old. You live in the UK, right? So how can you say that adults don't think of Katy as talented and see her as a great artist/musician by just the people you have encountered in your country?

Although I may not agree with what you think of PRISM, I appreciate your constructive criticism  of it. After all, people have different interpretations and opinions. As for the whole teen thing with Katy's lyrics, age is just a number, and Katy is still very young by mind, heart, soul, and spirit.

I don't want to argue anymore, so I'll keep it quick and light.

Did you agree with what I said about trap songs in the media before DH, by the way?

I don't know the full extent of what Katy does in her career and how much control she has and I'm sure the fact that she writes her own songs allows her more control...but I think all artists, major label signed or not, are subject to some level of control. Even if a label suggests one type of song or drafts in a hit songwriter and producer for the lead single but allows control everywhere else, it's still a bit of control. I think as long as Katy continues to make generic pop music and doesn't go acoustic (which she clearly wants to do), it's safe to say there is a bit of control going on. Capitol want her to keep making pop tunes as long as she can still get hits out of them, you can tell.

I've seen a lot of her fans online. As for a lot of ages being at her shows, a lot of them are parents/guardians/older siblings accompanying kids. I've been hearing that from people who have been to her shows. And it's mostly girls too. I'm not judging this just by the fans in my country, I am looking at worldwide. And the UK is one of Katy's biggest markets, so I think it's still significant.

I appreciate that you accept my opinion. My biggest disappointment with Prism was that it wasn't fun like TD and up until this point, Katy was such a fun popstar, that was her appeal. Hearing her trying to be serious and grown up just felt like she was trying to be something she's not (ironically, it's probably what she really wants to be, but in comparison to what we know her as, it felt contrived). Could I ask out of curiosity, what do you consider to be some of your favourite pop albums? I just want to get an idea of what your taste is and to determine why you like Katy so much.

I'm not rude, stop panting around the forum like some educated-I got a major in pop music know it all.

The phrase you called me was rude. I'm not trying to be a know it all, I'm just talking about my genuine passion for music and as a critic, I can be rather outspoken. I don't mind if people have other opinions, as long as they present good evidence and don't insult me in their counter arguments.

My only concern is that this will reignite the "Katy vs Gaga" media thing. That doesn't reflect well on either artist, even though they really have nothing to do with it. It's just the media pitting them against each other and practically forcing them to compete simply because they're both successful women who happen to be having success at the same time.

Yes, I agree with what you said about the trap songs in the media and I admit that I was wrong.

Well, I have a diverse taste for music. Besides listening and loving all of Katy's albums, I also listen Gaga's The Fame and The Fame Monster albums a lot, & The Edge Of Glory, Hair, Schiesse, Bloody Mary, Marry The Night, and Heavy Metal Lover are my favorites off of Born This Way and Dope & Gypsy are my favorites from ARTPOP as well. I also really like Lana's music. Same goes out to P!nk. Even though I didn't liked Hard Candy and MDNA, I enjoy and like Madonna's music, specially her Like A Prayer, Ray Of Light, and Confessions On A Dance Floor albums. 21 is also one of my favorite albums ever. Britney's albums from earlier times of her career are the ones that I really like, too. I listen to a lot of other artists and musicians from different genres, but these are just a few examples of the music I listen to.

Maybe i'm getting older but it feels a bit too soon :duck:

Gaga is the one who needs a new album in 2016, not Katy!

It's a sign of getting older when you can wait a bit for albums... I think 3 years minimum should be the gap for massive massive acts!

Born To Slay

I kinda hope she releases after Gaga but only by like a month or two. While I want Gaga to slay alone, I really wanna hear the next Katy album. Her music is really good. I loved Prism and TD and might stan this era, she really won me over with her tour. It was a great show.

Economy

Gaga has had more time off to detox from over-exposure and has won some respect back from GP with Tony collab plus Oscars performance

Also Gaga AHS should so help hype her up before her actually releasing :gaga:

I think that Katy will release her next album in the earlier part of 2016, while Gaga will release hers in mid parts of the year. But we shall see

I personally hope it's vice verse because while I like Katy, I really wanna get Album 6 from Gaga. Ya know, I know this wouldn't happen but I would really like it if their eras were close enou together so they could co-headline a tour. That would be fun.
