Except it's not the same. You know the alternative to smoking? Not smoking. However, McDonalds feeds tons of poor people who can't afford better. Excessive bleaching will leave hair extremely dry. Seeing as Gaga's hair was extremely dark, it would've taken a lot of bleaching to get it to be blonde. By using alternative products that are more mild to the hair, Gaga won't damage the hair and still lighten it a lot, without using harmful chemicals. When the hair is light enough, it's easy to apply a hair dye and achieve a perfect result. Or, if she wants to, she can simply use a little bit of bleach to go back to platinum blond - but most of the work will have already been done by relatively healthy products.
