Dominikko 355
Not jealous of T Swift sorry. She's really talented but I don't see her as the next big thing in music. She's just the It Girl because she's tall, slim, pretty, caters to younger generation and makes love songs. But never in a million years she can make a music video like Bad Romance or a catchy single like Just Dance and Poker Face.
Alfonso 1,549
But the fact that she's tried so hard to have this success only proves that she rightfully earned it; because you sow what you reap. Hard work = great success. Y'all are acting like Taylor hasn't been continuously dominating the charts since her first couple of albums, though. It's to be expected. I'm happy for her and she deserves it. I don't even think Gaga's reign was as long and consistent as Taylor's. This
OpusDiaboli666 199
Well Taylor is popping out albums every two years, tours, is interesting to follow what she has to say, how she dresses..Gaga is living the farm life posting pics of strawberries and chickens so who of these two do you think deserves to be on top? Taylor deserves this. Once Gaga works again (no I don't mean a 35 date tour where she is only on stage for half of the show) she will be on top again
Nein 508
Gaga's comeback will slay hard too (with the promo like 1989)
giskardsb 12,565
Since I generally can't stand Taylor's music, I just see it as a sign of how many pop fans accept flashy mediocrity. There is nothing to be jealous of. Popularity is fickle and doesn't mean much unless you care about celebrity more than artistry.
giskardsb 12,565
I'm not jealous, really. She worked with Max Martin, churned out fabulous-relatable music, hyped her music, made bubbly-wathacble music videos... she's success oriented now; like her team was GEARED for it. If her success was unexpected & raw; like Adele with 21, then I'd be jealous. But the fact that she's tried so hard to have this success only proves that she rightfully earned it; because you sow what you reap. Hard work = great success. Hard work and completely targeting popularity via the path of least resistance. Taylor is corporate pop personified.
Whispering 18,865
I mean how successful she is right now, not the fact that she made a video with all that famous people Taylor has been wildly successful for a while now. Her album sales and critical response is steady and continues to increase. Even so, is Taylor really as big as Gaga was in 2009-2011? I don't really think so...at least not on a worldwide level. StrawberryBlond 14,862
Oh, yes, I won't deny I'm jealous of her success. There are much more deserving artists than her. In my worst moments (right now being one), I say "why are people supporting this untalented, bitter girl?" But that's just out of anger. Deep down, I know she's not untalented (I think anyone who can write songs and play instruments is talented in some degree) but I'm not jealous of her talents. Well, sure, I wish I could write songs and play instruments but I only feel jealous of those things when they're truly awesome talents displayed by the best of the best. I wish I could play the guitar like Jimmy Hendrix, play the piano like Diamanda Galas, write songs of the standard of Gaga and Lana Del Rey. I think my voice is the only musical talent I have, but I'd love to be able to push it to a higher level where I can do whistle notes and so on. So, why would I be jealous of someone like Taylor Swift? You're jealous of the people who possess the things you wish you had, after all. So, seeing as the only thing she has is the success that I wish my faves had, yes, I'm rather jealous. But everything else? No way.

I think she has a real gift for that. And melodies and hooks are very important to a song, the way a melody carries the song or lifts it or sets the mood of the song. Lyricswise other artists come to mind, like Gaga, not Taylor, that I wish I had their talent..
Chromichiga 184
What goes up, must come down. Taylor should enjoy/ wring out all the juices she can from this era. It'll be so hard to top it....not saying she won't be successful next era, but i'm not saying she will be as successful

Tropico 4,145
I'm not. Her music ( which is personally why I stan for artists) isn't nearly as good as Gaga's. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
TimisaMonster 31,073
Jealous? No...Taylor plays everything safe musically, she uses friends/boyfriends to make her next hits, and also has a herd of crazed teenage girls as a fanbase... Bette Davis 12,742
Taylor is popular at her peak while Gaga was influential. Big difference Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
aaronyoji 2,054
think of the popularity gaga was getting when she single handedly saved the oscars. (the internets words not mine). taylor could never in a million years give a performance like that. its easy to like taylor swift and to reward her and give her numerous accolades (no matter how inflated the standards are to get one) let taylor have her moment because honestly deep down people know how mediocre her and the majority of pop music is.
