Spock 20,290
There was a lot of public backlash near the end of the Red era tho THIS. The backlash was real and she was being ripped to shreds by everybody. Thank God she changed publicists I love all these people writing like they have any clue what they're saying when it's obvious they have only been following her since 1989 last year who will love me when the night is over
StrawberryBlond 14,891
So I am a ***** because I'm stressful and no one can live with that? Thank you.+ *****: [noun]a woman who engages in promiscuous s-xualintercourse, usually for money; prostitute; harlot;strumpet. That's not what I said at all. And I never called her a w***e, I just said that some people were and plenty of women don't even need to date as much as her to be called one. And you should know that the word means something different today. While still having it's original prostitute definition, the word is frequently used in the same way that "s**t" is and can also be a word you use when you just don't like someone. It's a pretty feeble comeback to bring up the original definition nowadays.Sorry, but maybe she has trouble maintaining a relationship? That doesn't automatic mean she's a bad person. I agree she should do some soul searching, but she's only 26 and she can have fun if she wants. People were constantly making fun of how many guys she's dated and I'm sure that wasn't fun for her. And that trouble is? Plenty of celebrity women maintain relationships while working or on tour and plenty also maintain relationships when they're young. Taylor's consistent 3 month relationship pattern is bizarre and needs to be addressed by her because it's clearly something she's doing wrong around that stage. It was long suggested that she's a virgin who wants to wait for marriage and once she confesses this, the guys don't want to know. But her lyrics and recent accounts of Calvin leaving her house in the morning in the same clothes he had last night pretty much confirm that's no longer true. Maybe the 3 month mark is when she starts bringing up marriage and babies or something and it scares them away? It's always her getting dumped and it's always after 3 months which strongly points towards her exercising a bad habit at this stage every time that is a deal breaker. The public's just trying to make her aware of this.

It is wildly known she has been having s-x at least since John Mayer. If you know how to read between the lines, she has been talking about it ever since a bunch of songs in Speak Now. Taylor has a wholesome image but who is going to believe that a successful, beautiful 25 year old woman is still a virgin? lol. And who are you to say that her pattern is bizarre? Are you the relationship guru and everything you say is true? If she wants to date guys for a short time that's her problem and business, not yoursAnd why do you care so much anyways? It's obvious you don't like her, and yet you're always there in every Taylor thread writing your posts in such a passive aggressive manner and stirring **** up, like don't you have better things to do with your time? who will love me when the night is over

Thank God she changed publicists I love all these people writing like they have any clue what they're saying when it's obvious they have only been following her since 1989 last year All Taylor has known up until this point is success. Wait until she has a real backlash on the level that some of the biggest popstars have suffered. She and her fans have no idea what a backlash is. And how on earth did her publicist make this better? And I know you're referring to me in that second part. Yet I've been saying to every Taylor fan that calls me out that I have listened to all her albums and started following her in 2009. I've properly reviewed all her albums since Speak Now (still haven't put them on metacritic, though) and know a lot about her life. It's the ultimate defence from a Taylor fan: "You've clearly never listened to her music!" Believe it or not, it's possible to be educated about something and understand it...but still disagree with it. THE LIES when was this ever said or suggested by anybody??? She never made any vows or had that fake purity ring PR stunt like the Jonas Brothers. It is wildly known she has been having s-x at least since John Mayer. Lies, are they? FYI, they've been said since the Speak Now era. Her haters have always said it. It's the stereotype that people jump to whenever a woman gets dumped by a guy she's not been dating long, particularly if she's got a sweetheart image like Taylor. Because it can be true. She didn't need to make a show of it for people to assume she was a virgin. The question "is she a virgin?" was a thread that showed up constantly on her imdb page. Remember that she comes from Nashville and was raised by Christian parents, so that in addtion to her wholesome image and lyrics made her being a virgin seem totally plausible. There are plenty of fundamentalist Christian girls who are virgins in their 20's and Taylor was always put in that category. But yes, that assumption did peter out around the time of John Mayer and really no one thinks she's a virgin anymore. That's what I said, so you obviously just skimmed it. And let's be real, I doubt her fans would be so forgiving about any other celebrity's dating history. You're just defending her because you're a fan. And by the way, it's obvious from her lyrics that she believes in true love and getting married (she wouldn't write such bitter, personal break-up songs if she wasn't heartbroken), so it's not like she wants to have a bunch of short term relationships. By all accounts, every relationship she has involves her thinking that she'll be with this person forever. Well, no, really, I don't have better things to do with my time. Celebrities put themselves out there to be judged and as a music critic, I take that concept very seriously. I don't really think of what I do as stirring s**t up, I'm just providing the truth and/or a different opinion that people haven't considered. I'm defending her because people have been using the "OMERHGERD she has so many ex-boyfriends!111" drag since 2009 and it's stupid, s-xist and tired, but you obviously don't think so. You may think you're a critic and writing impartially, but everything you say about Taylor is always full of negative opinions that you want to pass of as facts. Redstreak 6,653
More excerpts: Do you know how many sit downs I got at the label about that? A lot of me making this album was me going in the studio, making something I loved, and showing it to the label and getting a principle’s-office discussion. Like, “Young lady, you know you’re not going to sell as many albums if you’re not labeled as country.” I wasn’t kicking and screaming, but I was very firm about the fact that to call this album a country album would be the biggest mistake. Because when you’re trying to fool people, you insinuating that you think they’re stupid. And insinuating that people aren’t going to see through your transparent motives is the one worst mistake you can make as an artist who is supposed to respect their fans. That was my argument. I got really, really lectured about not putting my name on the title on the front of the album cover―that was fun. And then it was suggested to me that we use a different picture for the album cover because, they kept saying, “We need eyes, lips, hair on an album cover. You know no one’s going to know who that is.” And I was like, “That’s the point. We’re starting over.” Also, the reason I didn’t put my face on the album cover is because I didn’t want people to fully diagnose the emotional DNA of this album before it came out. If I’m smiling, it’s a happy record; if I’m frowning, it’s a sad record. I wanted people to be able to detect no emotion on my face. It was just taken on this ‘80s Polaroid camera that I have. I knew that I was doing something that I fully believed in when I was confronted with these people on my team, who were only going by what they knew―which is that there hasn’t been a successful country-to-pop crossover, really ever, who has sold as well as their country career did. They’d say “You’re not going to sell as much.“ and I would say, “I don’t care. This is the album I made, this is what I’m going to call it, this is how I’m going to label it.” I knew that I’d made songs that my fans would like; I was like, “You guys don’t know them like I do. You sit in an office, I’m out there at shows with them, I’m on tumblr talking to them, I know what they want from me.” Thank God it worked out. If we’d sold one album less than a million in the first week, it would have been two years of “Taylor, we told you.” So glad we sold almost 1.3 [million] in the first week.” https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CE0-T-TVIAApepL.jpg:large Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Stephen 30,431
Some people poked fun at how many men she dates. Cry me a river. It's the truth. Plenty of celebrity women have been called w****s for dating a lot less. Kim Kardashian, the woman who rose to fame due to a s-x tape, has been with Kanye for over three years. Taylor Swift, the sweet girl who's still considered a virgin by many, hasn't been able to make a relationship last longer than 3 months. So, yeah, that deserves to be criticised and instead of being offended by it, she needs to do some soul-searching and be single for a while (which she was, until Calvin came into the picture). She just can't criticise herself, that's the problem. She can't see her flaws, so she thinks everyone else is being unnecessarily mean. She's one of the thinnest-skinned celebrities ever. Xtina's Bionic era was a backlash, Gaga's AP era was a backlash, Rihanna's currently going through a backlash. When Taylor experiences that kind of backlash (flop singles, flop album, underperforming tour, being a punching bag for the public), then she can claim that she's being criticised. I like Taylor but oh my god this is so true. When Shake it Off came out I was like.. really? Do you really need to shake it off? There was barely negativity around her. Paper Planes 340
This girl truly doesn't live on the same planet as the rest of us.Reading through this thread, I was quite stunned by your responses. You seem hung up on Taylor's public relationships, yet you are on a Lady Gaga fan site with a Lana Del Rey avatar. I admire Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift, but I'd like to argue that Taylor Swift's 'three-month' relationships are a bit more respectable than Gaga's go-go dancing, d--g-abusing past and Del Rey's nods towards submissive and abusive relationships and prostitution.Taylor grew up within the reach of the public eye (just like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, etc.), and her relationship troubles are such petty things to get caught up on compared to her contemporaries' problems. Failed relationships are really nothing to be ashamed of.Everyone has struggles in life. It's insensitive to say that her criticisms are supposedly not as significant as those thrown toward Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and so on. Her platform is huge, which gives more room for people to find fault: she sings flat live, she writes a bunch of songs about guys, she dates a lot of guys, she had the body shape of a 2x4, she dances awkwardly, etc. The only reason why she hasn't been criticized for a flop era like the artists you listed is because she won't allow herself to risk her success. She's an incredibly smart businesswoman and knows how to stay at the forefront of the public eye, which is probably why Big Machine rightfully gives her free reign. She sets high standards for herself and clearly knows how to achieve them without some record executives shooting her in another direction. You may see her as the 'thinnest-skinned' celebrity on the scene, but she's not the artist that threw herself into two whiny, self-loathing blackout periods because she was heavily criticized. She can transform any criticism she gets into multi-platinum pieces of work (see: Blank Space, in which she is able to poke fun at herself and media response to her) instead of melting down and blocking the world out. With this brainpower, she will always come out on top. delete it fat
