Is "TFM" only better because of nostalgia?

yes. its overrated, and not her best work.

But I don't think it is overrated at all, I mean I guess it could be some but, I think BTW was produced just a bit better and is a longer album so.

tbh..I guess I'd say

BTW = TFM > AP > TF > C2C

The album sounds dated as ****. ARTPOP is far better.

See that is my ONLY problem with the album, I LOVE it, but the production sounds dated, ARTPOP has a worse production in a way but it sounds a but cleaner, like with the technology they used to produce it with has improved I guess so, but it is more noisy. ARTPOP is on the same level as The Fame for me, tbh, maybe slightly worse.

i find it overrated in the sense that people herald it as the absolute pinnacle of songwriting quality and some standard that gaga has yet to beat, which she undoubtedly has. production is a useless argument, its subjective, its a matter of preference, im talking bare bone songwriting, and honestly the fame monster has been topped musically.

I agree with this completely tbh. BTW >>> (in my opinion)

Well I can listen to TFM all the way through, even "Teeth" I can get through. I can't always get through the whole of "Born This Way" but I must admit I think BTW overall is the better body of work. "The Fame Monster" has the better highs, just not as many IMO.

BTW is too overproduced for me , too preachy and just not my cup of tea, my least fav Gaga album for sure , I mean how would I even praise BTW if I only listen to (Title Track, Scheisse, HML). For me an album speaks to me I don't pick my fav piece of work it picks me. I love BTW but how come I unintentionally pay it dust. I listen to songs from TFM on a daily basis ever since it got released if not then at least 4 out of  7 days of the week. I am addicted to The Fame Monster ever since Nov 2009. You see I am a Fame Monster stan and our kind is almost extinct on Gagadaily due to two reasons either some of us stopped stanning for Gaga completely or became Katy Cats. So BTW being overrated on this site doesn't necessarily mean it's better than TFM or even that good it just means BTW stans are increasing and TFM stans are decreasing , younger fans are starting to rule Gagadaily, heck even the ARTPOP stans outnumber us Fame Monster stans on this site.

YEP. Know what you mean. I stanned for her '09-'11. Then kinda stopped and started again in Aug '13 obviously, then kinda lost interest after G.U.Y. (Although I did watch her tour on YouTube lol, it was good) But still..It depends on her moves on whether or not I'm a "stan" at the time, I always like her, and I will always/have always stanned for her past work, TF/TFM/BTW. And I do stan for like 3-4 ARTPOP songs, but that is all. I stan for her currently, her looks rn >> and her Oscar performance >>...But I need to see how her next album sounds before I say I'm sold forever.

I can relate I guess and I do love ARTPOP the album it's the era that I don't like. The next album will make or break many things so it's interesting to see how things turn out.

While I don't consider TFM, the standalone EP, as Gaga's "best" album in terms of overall content and delivery (or even among her "better" ones), I'm fully convinced that it's a "better" album than most of the albums released in 2009, in the same way TF was a "better" album than most albums released in 2007-2008, BTW compared to majority of the 2010-2011 albums, and the list goes on and on. From there alone, one can't blame others to consider one of these albums as their top choice when it comes to Gaga's "best".

But to answer the OP's question, yes, nostalgia may play an influential role, but nostalgia won't play that much if the albums themselves weren't that strong to begin with. So I'd say TFM is seen by others as her "better" album not just purely because of nostalgia but more of because how really strong it came off to them when it was released in '09 and continues to come off to them whenever they listen to it even to this day.

Some may argue the same with BTW and ARTPOP and even TF, but if you'd ask me the same question, then I'd most likely give the same explanation as well. And that's it isn't just because of nostalgia. It's more of because how good the albums truly are to one's musical taste.

This is the best thing I ever quoted when it comes to talking about Gaga albums, honestly the way you look at it is the complete truth that I failed to express many times. Love the way you portray the situation honestly this is TEA.

i always kinda wonder, why do you guys rate the value of an album based on how many times you can casually repeat a song without it making an impression on you? why is being able to replay a song thousands of times a measurement of quality?? theres a lot of that on born this way, but yeah some of it you have to save for special occasions or moments, or the whole album you might not want to play all the way through in one sitting, but i dont see how that makes it bad. it has plenty on the surface to enjoy casually but also a lot to think about and sink into like when youre blasting the album and youre by yourself. i cant say the same about the fame monster, i know that once you hear it, thats it, theres nothing that makes me want to replay a moment of every song and think about how mindblowing it is, its just on the surface pop music, regardless of what gaga hyped it as when she released it.

and this whole "tfm has no fillers' is nonsense. every body of work, good or bad, is bound to have a few fillers. born this way has some, but thats not bad. the fame monster to me is half fillers, because theres so little content already to a--lyze. you honestly cant say that teeth, shicd, telephone have a profound sense of belonging on that record. they could be on any record.
