The dutch version of Peta has an award every year for celebs that wear fur 'Dumb furrie' (badly translate but w/e)

The winner gets an invitation to a meeting with the anti-fur movements + a elaborated article on how their fur is being harvested.

It has changed a lot of celebs mind on wearing fur in Holland.

This sounds like a great idea. A bit more constructive....

It is!

U offer the celebs a proper conversation about how everything goes in the fur industry.

I think she handled it like a pro. I loved how she was still nice to the next people in line even after it happened. There is no better reaction than to ignore that kind of an aggressive attack

Tbh when I was younger I would've been quite supportive of the kind of confrontation in the video - it's a very emotive topic when you actually know what goes on, and it can be hard to get past your anger. But nowadays I just think that attacking someone so blatantly just pushes them into defensiveness. Maybe they reflect on it later, but it's surely better to set the level of debate higher from the beginning.

Anyway, thanks for showing other approaches are being taken.   ?

I will never understand how anyone here has so much animosity towards a celebrity that isn't gaga lol. It makes me think this site is mostly filled with brainwashed robotic sheep. It's like you guys are programmed to think that way. I sometimes feel like I'm in a factory in area 51 lol.

I think people here simply like and dislike different artists and celebrities I general. Some members here don't even like Gaga, or they have her "not in their top 3 or 5" or whatever. This site is by no means a bunch of sheep? I see more hate and negativity towards Gaga here than I see towards her on other fan forums and music sites I visit.

The truth is some people here, for whatever their reasons, don't care for Kim K. Some don't care for Bieber, Miley or Iggy. Some people that love Miley can't stand Bieber and vice versa. No artist or celebrity mentioned here is universally liked by everyone at GGD, not even Gaga!

why don't these "activists" find a better way of promoting their message than going to a book signing of a celebrity, holding up a poster and yelling at her? i don't really see how that's helping their cause or promoting their message and what they stand for? they just look like weird teenagers who have nothing better to do.

kim handled it well though, she just ignored and continued signing her books and kept a smile on her face. she seemed totally unbothered by them, after all she has had worse done to her (when she got flour bombed at a charity event but dusted off her coat and continued with the night)

Kim looks more and more like her mother.:eww:

Shouldn't we have one thread for these famous for being famous people?

I wish every browser had that kardashian-ad blocker.

Waiting in line just to spend a couple seconds holding up pictures and shouting at someone isn't doing anything to actually solve the problem.

They're targeting a person who isn't going to turn around and say "You know, these people came to my signing, yelled at me and showed me horrific pictures, and now I'm going to change."

If we want people to stop wearing fur, we should be spending our time promoting alternatives and focusing on the actual industries instead of using single celebrities like Kim as a scapegoat.

I agree with treating animals humanely and support vegetarian/vegan lifestyles, but their methods are counterproductive.

Such a better idea. Reward the people making good choices and show them the alternatives. It's better than forcing someone into a corner, which makes them want to defend their actions instead of consider change.

Its pretty even. There are a lot of sheep gaga fans here.

You can dislike her all you want for being vain, etc. but Kim has never claimed to contribute anything to the art world or to society. She is a BUSINESSWOMAN. Her job is to make money and she has created a brand out of her last name. She used a s-x tape to start most of her image, but can you blame her? What would you have done in her position? The Kardshians are smart business people no matter how you look at it. Yes, they might be what is wrong with society but you can't blame them for making money off of idiots.

Preach it, gurl. I don't value Kim's contributions to society or pop culture, but to say she does "nothing" is incorrect. For ****'s sake, I don't even put on makeup every day and Kim never leaves her house looking even a little bit frumpy. I at least give respect to that dedication. :dies:

She maintains her image in the public eye, and that's not easy to do. She was on a huge reality show, she's a model, she's in movies, she was on fiction TV shows, she's been the face of makeup and charity campaigns, released her own fragrances, a line of cosmetics, participates in a clothing line, etc.

The publicity side of her fame is annoying, but tbh she's a TV star and she has her own cosmetic products - she's a businesswoman.

You don't have to respect what she does, but saying she does "nothing" is false.

I do not agree with their approach but I do agree with the message behind it and it saddens me that Kim K, Gaga or any other person famous or not wears animal fur.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
