Canada Making Gov Deficits "ILLEGAL"

A lot of good ideas get screwed over because of party politics.  Defecit spending is necessary in emergencies, but leaders claime everything is in a state of emergency nowadays.

thats the thing. Some parties claim "now isnt the right time to constrain spending because the economy is still weak"

but at the same time, when you think that way, its never the right time. The business cycle is only at its optimal peak of high prosperity for a relatively short period of time

So your gonna run deficits for 8 years and balance the budget for 2 years thinking this way. Bad idea.

It seems really hard for any government to implement any long term plan for the nation when control of the parliament and just shift easily :smh:

I'm guessing that this is also to prevent other parties from using a debt ceiling as leverage over the other party

Changing of leadership prevents Monarchy ... Problem I am seeing in the U.S. is that families are becoming generational political careers.  Because its financially lucrative to do so..

Clinton's, Bush's case in point, both families have gained significant wealth since being elected.

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true

That's what Greece did. And when PASOK (their centre-left party) started cutting, they lost the elections. Because that's how politics work. Reforms and cuts during high conjuncture are only reachable in a country with one consistent government. Keynesian does work better, but it's poliically unreachable. Cutting and reforming during a crisis works way better, because the voters will only then see the necessity of harsh decisions.

And indeed, socialist parties only see the peak of economic growth as good economic growth to cut. Basically two years every 12 years. Canada is in a time of good growth, same with the UK and the US. Even Europe is nearing good growth, so according to socialists we should all actually start cutting our deficit!

Actually Canada is not in a good time of growth because of the drop in energy and other comodities which is causing a shift...

Western Canada which is more resource based is slowing, and Central Canada which benefits from cheaper comodities and a weaker currency for its manufacturing will see a delay before manufacturers respond to the better environment for expansion.

So growth is actually slowing here. Energy and other comodity exports are down in value, non-energy exports are only beggining to see signs of resurection and dont yet make up for the slack in energy. So the negatives for now outway the positives because they manifest faster than the positives

And i agree with ur statnent on consistancy. Theres more than 1 way of doing things but when u keep shifting strategy it gets dusfunctional. Opposition parties only un-do the previous parties strategies when they come into power
