Can we stop with the "recycled songs" from ARTPOP

You can literally sing MANiCURE over this and have it sound exactly the same.  http://youtu.be/4IW1v4M1uYk

I already explained that many songs have the same chord progression. That does not mean they are the same song, because they are not.

Well.. most of them were 100% kept and copied  At least, the ones I know of: Aura, MANiCURE and Donatella (the last two being an almost exact replica). Not much tweaking going on there.

Anyhow, I don't really care because that's just what happens when you make electronic pop music, but it's just a bit.. I don't know, I mean, I don't care but I don't like that she does it either. I'd prefer her to work with her producers from scratch. Or she could at least be honest about it and say that no, she doesn't write all of her music. It's that dishonesty that puts me (and others I imagine) off.

Sorry but I disagree completely with you. Gaga is not a producer, she doesn't create instrumentals, she writes melodies and lyrics. She's credited as co-producer sometimes because she is there every step of the way telling the main producers how she wants the song to sound like. And I think someone's been skipping interviews because every time someone asked Gaga how she wrote ARTPOP she said it happened in many different ways. Sometimes they would create it from scratch and sometimes they would show her an instrumental and she would write a song on top of it.

ARTPOP interviews are generally useless because everyone tells a different story every single time (decision to put R. Kelly on DWUW, lol, 5 different versions or Zedd talking about how they created music together - obviously false compared to the finished product), but in any case I was talking more in general. There's not much transparency about her recording processes and I don't like that in her specific case.

I never said she was a producer though or that she created instrumentals, I'd just prefer it if she started from scratch with an idea that is hers. I don't blame her, though, pretty much everything she does is rushed. But I was just expressing what I would prefer.

Its not just the chord progression tho :awkney: MANiCURE and My first Kiss have same kind of beat, guitars are very similar etc..  MANiCURE and my first kiss totally are four chord songs both but they are similar in many other ways too

Is that really a positive though?

its not bad bc every artist does it its just the typical choir proggesion for a pop song.

Not only are they not the same, but I doubt DJWS knows about this song.

People were just expecting fresh collaborative material...not instrumentals already used by other people (Aura, Mary Jane Holland, Donatella) DJWS is the only one who made new stuff with her tbqh :thetea:

BTW...nobody brought this up in a LOOONG time soooo :awkney:

Creating lyrics and melodies to fit an instrumental that you are given, that´s one of the basic procedures in songmaking, what´s the big deal with poor sistren Donatella and MJH???

Plus, have you all forgotten that GH was made like this too and who knows how many other songs??? :thetea:

I can see why it would bother some. Gaga is considered an artist by many and the more she crafts each piece the more a song becomes solely a Gaga creation. But the truth is a lot of her best stuff came from with help from someone else and some came entirely "prefab". To me these songs are still great and I think she really managed to make them her own in her performances of them, so I don't mind honestly. She can still pen a decent lyric and she has a great ear for sound.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Ever since ARTPOP's release, many here have decided to call some of ARTPOP's songs "recycled songs". And all I have to say is that it doesn't matter whether or not some songs already had some pre-made instrumentals as long as the final result is good. All of those Zedd's or Madeon's songs you call recycled were never released anyway. And if Gaga saw some of these pre-made instrumentals fit to accompany her melodies and lyrics, than what is the problem? If you don't like some of these songs because you just don't like them than that is fine, but not liking something just because you know that some instrumentals were pre-made is pretty shallow.

They weren't just instrumentals, 'Can't beat the Machines' had a full lyrical progression, and Aura's entire instrumental was from a song in and of itself, the creators never use vocalists. (The song was Kink/I I shine)

The bottom line is, and always will be, that they were recycled. Whether or not you think that degrades the finished song is the question you all should be asking yourselves. Its dumb to fight over facts.

You keep mentioning chords.  But yet I never even mentioned chords at all.  Im talking about the fact that the drum and guitar are exactly the same in the same sequence as well.  It has nothing to do with chords...

Sampling is common in music. Madonna used an ABBA instrumental in her song "Hung Up" and many rappers rap over pre-made beats. I don't see why Gaga doing this is a problem.
