Why hasn't Gaga commented on any of the race related issues in america recently?

This is very true, she doesn't have to, but I'm wondering why she hasn't. She comments on a lot of things going on in todays society and this is clearly one of importance.

She also didn't commented about the Germanwings plane or the eearthquake in Nepal

Very true. However, the race related issues are ones that have been happening on more than one occasion and happening in her country.

It's not the same thing. Being physically assaulted and someone having higher power than you in society merely due to skin pigmentation are not the same thing. One is clearly tangible and visible. The other is deeply engrained in society. We are both talking apples and oranges. So take it how you may.

How is it not the same thing? Males, cisgenders, citizens, whites and young people have more power than their respective minorities. All these minorities face injustice in their own way. It's the same thing.

And at the beginning of the year 4 Jews got shot because they were Jewish in Paris.

Gaga is not a news caster, she doesn't need to, especially on such sensitive thing

many have shed light that her concerns are no where near that level she displays for s-xual matter. perhaps she did consider to post something about it, but that would be controversial, and I think it'd be wise for her (or any of her management) to avoid that as her image back in those days were kinda shaky. Poorer sales and lack of general public support would indicate that it's best not to touch upon these issues for it could be seen as her "pampering" the black community, vide what people thought about her when she kept on harping about homos-xuals. And it would be equally unwise for her to post something about it now when nobody is talking about it, save for this thread.

Those pictures say white silence = white consent. It's not the same thing as consent for everything under the sun...

It can be applied to everything that is an important issue during these current times.

If the media is focusing on any issue, and you are staying silent about it on social media, then you support it...right?

To be honest it doesn't make sense to me.

MALE silence about s-xual assault = consent.

CISGENDER silence about violence against trans people = consent.

YOUNG PEOPLE silence about discrimination towards old people = consent.

AMERICAN silence about discrimination towards immigrants = consent

Being a male is a privilege, being cisgender is a privilege, being young is a privilege, being American is a privilege, being white is a privilege, so I don't see the difference between that statement and the statements we already mentioned.

You are reducing everything into a simple formula, and you didn't do it well. To s-xually assault someone, you need to have the actus reus and the mens rea. In terms of the mens rea, if someone is silent when you fornicate them, you would not know someone is not consenting, and therefore you would not have the mens rea element, and the criminal charge simply cannot exist.

Gaga is here to cater to the gay community, not the black community, remember? Azealia Banks already has the race card on lock. :neyde:

Goodness, I hope I am not crucified for this

No, it simply means the person has not thought of a suitable response. There are grave consequences to talk about something without going through the brain, especially for someone who has such level of fame.

I understand the question but she's no mother Theresa. She'd have to tweet daily about big things happening in the US or the world. She tweeted for Ferguson, I think that was a nice gesture does that mean she should every time?

I think the point of my post is very clear and easy to understand. You don't need to be an expert to know that women are s-xually assaulted everyday and men don't do anything to stop it neither something to help the victims.

The point of my post is to say that just because people don't make statements about issues that don't affect them doesn't mean they consent it.

Consent is a big word in this situation. It means that you agree or give your permission for something to happen. So it means that you agree with police brutality.

Like has been said by a few people in the thread, i honestly think it's because she's afraid to misstep and say something wrong. It is a very sensitive issue and one of the last things you want to say something that might be interpreted. Leaving it simple like her "pray for Ferguson" tweet is enough if she feels she doesn't have enough of a grasp on it to comment.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

People expect way too much from others. I say let it be. Gaga is a musician first and foremost. It's great that she is even compassionate and does speak on some important issues but to expect her to do it...?? Nah.
