Born This Way Production vs ARTPOP Production

I see people call both albums messy, overproduced, too loud, etc.

Are their basic little ears just used to hearing basic little instrumentals?

Or is there truth behind these claims?

Which album's production do you enjoy more?

Which album is less "overproduced", "messy", "loud", etc.?

The difference is that Born This Way sounds so genuine and bad ass, like something that only happens once in a life time.

ARTPOP on the other hand was literally the result of some Zedd/Madeon reheats they had sitting in their computer since 2012, along with DJWS doing what he usually does - failing at leading Gaga in the correct direction. Not very fun

Born This Way has a messy, gritty sound. ARTPOP has a clean, more polished sound. The two are on total opposite ends of the spectrum. There's no way you can really compare them because the intended sound behind both albums is so incredibly different.

The drum loop/clap thingy is super similar in Teenage Dream, TGIF, and California Gurls.

Teenage Dream was minimalistic before Lana made it cool and Lorde copied.

Dr. Luke probably used one producer pack.

I didn't say I compared them or that I thought ARTPOP was messy. People on this site do that.

Our fellow Little Monsters will do anything to discredit ARTPOP.

They've even become delusional pseudo-producers.

There's a LOT going on in Born This Way, but I kinda like it because it's super in your face in a good way sometimes. There are times it's overwhelming but even that is done in a way that has its own special little quality :flutter: I haven't really focused on ARTPOP's production, but majority of the time I don't really notice it going overboard

Overall I think they're done well even if they walk the line between too much sometimes. I've noticed that when Gaga does go overproduced then it's in a way that still lets me appreciate the song if I like the song anyway, like it doesn't water it down or distract too much

Oh yeah, I know you weren't saying that! But I was just saying it's so dumb that other fans compare them or say one's overproduced or whatever because they're so different.

But tbh...ARTPOP's production >>> Born This Way's production. :gayhat:

Mister Gaga

I don´t know what to say. Both albums, in their production, are perfect for me

Born This Way always give me chills. The best example is TEOG or Highway Unicorn

And i REALLY can feel the 'wild' and 'rabid' vibe on ARTPOP :music:

TBH, ARTPOP has the better, more refined production that Born This Way doesn't because, to me, Born This Way was a well produced album for its time but as the years go by, one can tell that its production would not have succeeded in current times but without its production, the basics would have no idea as to what the basis of their music now would sound like :whitney:

Yeah I agree with everything you're saying.

It's usually when people are trying to defend Born This Way they call ARTPOP overproduced. :smh:

Both albums are amazing in their own ways!

Marry the Night, Government Hooker, The Edge of Glory, Heavy Metal Lover, Bloody Mary, and Electric Chapel

all amazing production :whitney:

But then again

Venus, G.U.Y., ARTPOP, Applause, Do What U Want, and Sexxx Dreams...... :gum:

They're different and I love them both (I can't decide)

Bette Davis

To me, ARTPOP sounds super schizophrenic and bipolar. The songs don't really feel consistent and a lot of the songs sound gritty, screechy, grindy and unpleasant. Comes off too random for my liking.

On the other hand BTW feels a lot more cohesive to me. It feels like most of the songs have a similar sound, vibe, etc. The album feels like a collection of similar songs. I wasn't a huge fan of BTW when it came out but it has aged so nicely and become one of my favs. I honestly don't see why people call it overproduced.

BTW def wins for me. I still have a lot of respect for ARTPOP and it def has highlights though.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
