This is BEYONCÈ all over again:fat:  overrated albums stay overrated I guess

Beyonce's album didn't sell steadily for months, like 1989 is doing...and Bey didn't have three number one singles.

But it still was a major success because of it's unorthodox release which resulted in it being praised like it's a holy sacrament, and that's basically what's happening to 1989 rn. It's not the best album by a popstar ever. It's a good album, that's it.

1989 had a typical release for a big name pop star and a typical type release for Taylor. The surprise release for Beyonce is what propelled it to its big first week sales. Taylor has had big first week numbers for her last three albums. Unlike Beyonce, 1989 has singles doing well to keep it in selling.

Two entirely different situations.

Pretty sure you misunderstood , I was talking about BEYONCÈ having an unorthodox release. not 1989.

Anyway, just because the singles have done well you think it deserves all the praise it gets? Honestly I don't. Imo it's overrated, which is my opinion not a fact.

I understood and that was my point, that BEYONCE was a surprise (unorthodox) release and that's what pushed its first week sales. 1989's first week sales were due to the fact that Taylor is the rare type of artist that has consistently had big first week numbers. Those two situations are different.

Also, 1989 has continued to sell and stay very high on BB for nine months now, (and not slowing down anytime soon) which BEYONCE failed to do. 1989 has also had three number one hits and another top 10 hit...songs from the album that sold very well, which BEYONCE didn't have.

BEYONCE and 1989 weren't released in the same way, they didn't have the same longevity, and they didn't have the same success with singles off of the albums. Those are the reasons why the two albums are not the same.
