After all, you're forgetting who she's working with. Ryan may be bald and a mess but he shaped Lea Michele, Darren Criss and has worked with Jessica Lange and many more amazing actors and actresses. I doubt he'd hire Gaga if she wasn't as good actress as people'd expect her to be.

OT I hope she does great.  I made a thread when Hotel was announced asking if LG is a good actress and basically everybody said no but that hopefully since she'll be given an actual role this time she can do a great job.  I'm extremely curious.

In my opinion she's never had a serious role. For example, I feel like her role in Machete was very much based on her Gaga persona, looks wise which was obviously so people would recognise her in the movie and such but I don't think what she's been in has allowed her to showcase any abilities.

I believe she has very good potential and for that very reason I hope she doesn't treat AHS like a side project. I'm a huge fan of the AHS series and if Gaga was to treat this as just another "casual" thing will be extremely disappointing. If, simialrly to the sound of music performance and just her singing career in general, trains with an acting coach or someone, I believe she could portray an amazing role that will fit the AHS picture. 

In simple words, her acting is going to be very critiqued. And tbh, it's either gonna be incredibly cringeworthy or absolutely amazing. It all depends on whether the AHS team takes her seriously as an actress or not. (i.e. doesn't use the gaga persona as a basis for her character)
