Looking forward to the Ke$ha tour! Really hope she hits Miami. Or well, Ft. Lauderdale is more likely.

I agree that this era, Kesha is really... not putting her all into it? Only my friends who are fans of Kesha know she has a new album out. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't gone on this forum. I hope she'll enjoy touring, though, being that I want to see her.

I agree. Actually, it seems to me as though pop stars in general aren't putting their 100% effort into promoting their stuff. Remember back a few years ago when pop acts would be on TV doing interviews and performances all of the time? It used to be expected that a big pop act would tour the US and UK to hit all of the major shows. That seemed to changed very quickly because I don't remember the last time I've seen a pop star on TV outside of an awards show.

During 2012, it seemed that indie and more song writer driven acts were the ones that toured the media. And it's seems to be paying off. Indie music has been on the rise while pop has began to slowly decline. Just goes to show that even with great music, you have to put in the work on the promotion side of things.

I don't think pop is on the decline at all. "Indie" type music has definitely become commercial within recent years. With Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, Gotye, Foster the People, etc etc all having Top 40 smashes with major radio backing. Which wouldn't have happened like 5-6 years ago. But thats not really whats singularly dominant. Adele's success is a rarity, that doesn't really reflect the direction commercial music is going. The online popularity of pop artists like Marina and Lana isn't representative of where music is going either. I think were like officially in the age of the internet/technology and now popular music is just a melting pot. Everything is on the forefront. From alternative acts to mainstream pop stars. R&B, EDM....what isn't relevant? Polka maybe.
