I don't think you guys understand. The question is about which is more important to you. Not if you'd like both, then would you take both? :laughga:

I don't understand the last part of your question.  I guess they both are important to me.  But realistically the two options normally coincide within each other.  Again, subjective.

At this point in time, commercial success is way more important.

Nah. I think what she needs now is critical success. She needs credibility back and the strongest way for her to get it is with the critics back in her corner. Commercial success can follow suit.

Commercial success increases the chances of critical acclaim (at least in the longrun after the album era has ended), as opposed to several critically acclaimed albums often go unnoticed. But I'm hoping for both next time around.

On a more serious note, commercial success means more money, and that's what record labels want. So of course they will always prefer commercial success ofer critical acclaim, I guess. Also, I noticed that successful music is often ranked higher amongst critics, so the success may have an impact on how people perceive the music.

Not really, Teenage Dream had **** reviews and thats obviously one of the most successful pop records in recent years.

Also, you can flip that and say that critical success will have an impact on commercial success.

Both is ideal obviously. I just think critical success is something her career needs more than just a focus on commercial success. Making critical success more important.

Because Gaga only thrives commercially when shes critic approved. Without that shes ARTPOP-era dragged.

Bette Davis

Critical acclaim for sure.

Quality, meaningful, raw music that is an emotional outlet for Gaga as a human being (Which would hopefully be a step away from Donnatella, Mary Jane Holland, Fashion stuff)

:kissga:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Not always, if you drop a brilliant record, it can still go unnoticed. Commercial success should be the main objective at this point in time.

Critical acclaim simply because of how awful a lot of the "commercially successful" music is now...

Something so critically acclaimed, that it sells really well. See Adele's "21".

Both don't always reflect on the quality of the music, so i have no answer for that.

She's done both in the past right? I know The Fame Monster and Born This Way had decent critical scores and commercial success. The Fame definitely did well commercially, and ARTPOP did well commercially even if not as well. I think there were at least one charted top 5 on each album, correct?

But if I had to choose, it would be whatever would leave a legacy. I guess critical reception. I want the music to be good, not just something for the charts.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Alright. See I knew it did well commercially but didn't check the scores. So she's had 3 albums that were very well received commercially and critically (BTW, TF, FM) and then two that did well commercially and okay in critical reception (AP, and C2C). Is that correct?

Not to mention the awards.

Seriously, people consider her a flop?

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
