At this point, Madonna seems to have done everything she wants to do artistically. So, why not call it a day and retire?

Can't listen to some people with that "tour & money" card. It's not only about the money. Especially when Madonna is the richest musician. She wants to be relevant again but she fails. And you can tell that from her desperate actions to be on the spot. I hope she will find her way to live an artist's life not the #1 girl's. Because she isn't anymore.

That sounds like most people in 1984, 1989, 1992, 2003... Good thing she never listened to them and she won't listen to you... But I gotta admit you've come a long way, your gifts slay! :lolly:

I hate when people attribute low album sales to a leak. It did NOT affect sales dramatically. Whoever bought the album was going to buy it anyway and if they weren't they were going to illegally download it after the release anyway. So its like not a valid excuse.

Of course Madonna flopping is still met with positivity and coddling. Meanwhile Gaga was practically thrown to the wolves and left for dead.

And imo all she needs to do is make a good pop record and people will care and will consume it. I feel like the last 3 (Rebel Heart, MDNA, Hard Candy) all try to cater to contemporary music/trends instead of her contorting them to make something dope. Im sure she tried with this last album, it seems like she did, but all in all it was a pretty drab record. A small step in the right direction but a bust nevertheless.

Madonna is almost 60 and has been in the business for 30+ years.  She had her peak of success many years ago but continues to create great music and shows that many people still enjoy.  Gaga is not a legend yet so some may criticize her perceived flops more harshly.  She has more to do hopefully before she peaks, but then again maybe she already has......who knows.

"Great" is subjective. I don't think any of her albums in recent years have been great. Mediocre at best. She has a loyal fanbase.

That being said, people want to put her in the realm of the current pop girls and yet give her special treatment as if shes immune from criticism.

Just to be clear, Rebel Heart is one of my least favorites by her.

Maybe the leak didn't have a large impact on the music sales, but it most definitely had one on the music's quality, Living For Love was supposed to be released in March of 2015, the entire album was leaked in November of 2014.

Madonna herself stated that she released an unfinished product, there's no doubt some behind the scene chaos was caused after the leak occurred which resulted in her rushing the entire process.

You just claimed that if she indeed releases good music again she will be met with commercial success, so that possiblity is always there.

So in an indirect way, the leak did have an effect on her commercial performance.

You don't have to agree with me, but at least i offered a very valid perspective.

Confessions was really her last masterpiece, Hard Candy & MDNA were decent for the time being, but they just lacked in so many ways.
