I came here to see if you mentioned anything about the video. I knew you really love certain aspects of it. I agree about the black background even though I like it. Especially some of the smaller details that are so great and progressive.We really entered a point in pop music where the female body was not s-xualised and "pure". She had strong movement, she had horns on her face and her body was adorned in tattoos. It was a very different depiction to a woman in pop than we had ever really been exposed to.Madonna is obviously highly provocative and s-xual which was very progressive and boundary pushing, this isn't meant to attack her but highlight differences. She certainly portrayed her s-xuality in a very strong way. Britney was very s-xy and kept up the image that she was this innocent virgin but was highly s-xualised. Gaga has done similar to these girls, see gifs from DWUW, but in this instance she was barely clothed but not s-xualised. With a song that wasn't very s-xy, and wasn't referencing love or s-x. I think this video is far more progressive than it is given credit for. It is certainly a great reference in the future for where society is at now and where it is heading. The intro still makes me think if it's really true that you "can't protect something so perfect without evil". But around the 20th play, I was left in complete awe and everything was slowly making sense. And almost 4 years later, I adore it and watch it regularly. I think it's visionary. It deserves to be recognized as a landmark on music videos. that's the way I exacly felt/feel now about this video. didn't like when it first came out, but now I think this is her best or one of the best videos ever.
