Fans have given the album version a lot of flack for how it differs from iTunes. I can't help but think that the changes gave the song more shape. It's not supposed to be smoky and s-xy. The song is, basically, a fun and overheated romp. It's a sloppy, drunk phone call. And I think the album version reflects this perfectly.

​If it sounds worse it sounds worse, regardless of intentions. The punching synths in the chorus are masked by the unnecessary adlibs that just repeat what she previously said, the tempo is too fast and robotic, the amazing synths from the 2nd prechorus are gone for no reason and the remaining ones are too quiet, and the new bridge sounds like it was copy+pasted out of a different song. She scrambled to make the song different at the last minute to please the fans, and probably also to make it more commercial. There's a good reason most people agree it was messed up

There are parts of Sex Dreams that are better, yes, mostly the synths at the prechorus and the melody of the bridge, but the bridge itself is a complete mess. It's gibberish. And the chorus drags on too long with her repeating the same line over and over. Even though the Adlibs drown out the instrumental they make the chorus flow better. I completely disagree with the idea that it makes it sound robotic, in fact I think they give the song more spunk. 

Regardless, either one, Sex Dreams or Sexxx Dreams would have been a really good single choice. The word s-x finds itself on top 40 radio all the time, so I don't get that argument. 

Given the fact that Jimmy Iovine considered it for lead single makes me believe it had true potential of being a huge hit, even more than Applause.

​Oh yeah I should've mentioned the adlibs were great for the end of the chorus, the "watch me act a fool part". The "you were in my" adlibs just sound awkward and she's still repeating the same lines.

I remember there was a clean version of the song being passed around cause apparently the word s-x would need to be censored for radio. I don't know why but that's what everyone was saying.

GUY shouldn't have been a single, let alone after DWUWs flopping (which should've been Venus as second instead). 

 

I never understood why Venus/Sexxx Dreams/Gypsy/MANiCURE/hell even Aura weren't seviced to radio.

​Marry the Night shouldn't have even been a single imo. The last one should've been Yoü and I. She should've quit while she was ahead. Her singles were gradually falling down the charts along the course of the BTW era. She may not have gotten as much flack if she had ended the era with Yoü and I, which was like #6 or #7 if I remember correctly. She could've released the video for it without the song being released, though.

I remember I was in a club last June and dj played it. I was like heelll yeaaaa, and danced like crazy. even one of the girls took my shirt off , soo nasty. this song makes me feel like iim the s-xiest guy on Earth :D
