It is mediocre. Actually I would honestly list it lower than any release from a pop girl in the last two years. Nothing is new or fresh with this album. She even somehow manages to do "basic pop" bad. She needed better writing and better producing. One of the main issues is also one of the same issues i had with ARTPOP, the concept is too ambiguous. It just felt like there wasnt any structure. On the same note, the writing and production on the Empire music is pretty bad too. But i love the show so it wins in my book. Psychedelic 1,098 Posted March 18, 2015 Share Posted March 18, 2015 I think the problem is that Madonna cares too much about those things because the music sounds manipulated as if they are geared towards attempting to be a 'hit' which is the worst thing you could do. Madonna has always cared about charting otherwise features like Nicki Minaj, PSY etc wouldn't have happened. But only time will tell, we'll see how far this album run goes, she might be able to make a go of it Well, I think EVERYONE who makes pop music ultimately is looking to have hits, but it's not like everyone who does not achieve it, is gonna go on depression for months because of it Well, not for Madonna, or Xtina. She was given **** for the fact that it sold less than her previous album first week and because it barely sold less than her peers who were all like a couple of thousand more than her. Ultimately they were all in the same ballpark (Katy-Prism, Miley-Bangerz). Some monsters, some pop stans in general are going to talk **** naturally, but ultimately its kind of dumb to give people **** here for talking **** about other artists first week sales when EVERYONE talked **** about gaga. So why then, when Rebel Heart pulls Britney Jean tragic sales in comparison to MDNA which sold over 300k more in its first week, should Madonna be the one to get a pass? Why isn't anyone scolding the Madonna and Katy stans that were talking mad **** about Gagas first week sales when they weren't even as poor as this? Honestly, I think Rebel Heart did considerably alright for what it is, but im just pointing out the annoying hypocrisy of everyone in this thread thats trying to act like we need to suddenly be humble when this fanbase has been bogged down tremendously over the past 3 years.
