That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me in here
Sorry if I came too hard, I thought you were dragging lol

Yeah, I know that's a normal price nowadays but imo it was discounted to get dem sales

Yeah just like ARTPOP got discounted (not this early in it's cycle but still). :sis:

It's okay I should've thought before I posted that it might come across as shade.

I can't at people mocking and acting all superior when Gaga sold Born This Way for .99 cents for the exact same reason.

Madonna at least values her music more :reductive:

Please efrain from posting more ignorant comments. Amazon decided to discount the MP3 version of Born This Way for $1 so they can promote their then-new cloud storage. Interscope and Gaga said numerous times this was NOT planned and Amazon had to pay around 13 million dollars to Interscope for the price difference. I suggest you take a few Economics classes.

Bye

HA I know that amazon paid for it, but not you thinking that amazon just happened to pay for all those copies of one of the most hyped albums of the year, on release week, out of the goodness of their hearts just to promote their cloud service . Right. The impact it would have on sales was not measured at all.

Lol OBVIOUSLY it was discounted to get more sales, that's the purpose of discounting something... There's nothing wrong with it, it happens all the time. Who cares? They're just making her music more accessible, it's good imo and it should happen more often. I never understood why people look down on discounts so much.

Yeah. You don't think it was mutually beneficial? Amazon promoting their service with one of the biggest releases of the year and moving copies at .99 cents

Are you ****ing kidding me? Born This Way was $0.99 on its release day, so stop hate and shut up. I don't like Madonna, but get the truth.

No it wasn't.. :air: Because 1)the copies didn't count. 2)she got a lot of hate for that 3)she didn't need ANY extra sales. The album would sell over 800k anyway.

Thank God. If Rebel Heart sells less than Cheek to Cheek at its first week, it would be her end.

The copies did count; Billboard didn't change their rules regarding the cost of albums until after that point and I think the first week sales without the 99p deal were closer to 600k too (although it's arguable that some of the 400k+ 99p purchasers would've bought the full prices album instead).

The copies don't count :air: I'm sorry but they did count because they helped BTW move a million copies. I know the sales would have still been impressive without the deal, but whenever Billboard talks about its sales, there's always an asterisk saying how much the album sold on its own, without the deal. So they count them
