Dorothy Gale 7,575
I have always wondered this. The song was very basic to me. I kind of liked it, but it wasn't the anthem that born this way was, yet it seems to get the credit for being an "inspiration." It was listed on Wikipedia as one of the first songs about lgbt rights to top the charts. Was it because it was by a rapper? Because I found the lyrics to be kind of weak, and they stirred up homophobic tropes.
Cher 15
because he's a basic ass straight man and the GP loves basic ass straight men and not Strong Kickass Women because they dont feel threatened by basic ass men
Bad Bromance 5,809
Also because of the whole EY controversy. But anyway, I think BTW is way better!! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Because I found the lyrics to be kind of weak, and they stirred up homophobic tropes. it didn't even go top 10, it peaked at 11. BTW debuted at number one and still is the only song to top the hot 100 with the words gay, bi or lesbian in it.
Psychedelic 1,098
Because he is a straight man, completely outside of the gay scene making a pro-gay statement. On the other hand Gaga is a woman whose fanbase and reputation has been built with gay audience and it's not so surprising she's making such a statement. Both songs are great in their own right, but some of you won't be able to ackkowledge that because your opinions are biased, so you will only follow the trend of saying the other song's more basic and generic, when in fact it's not. This fanbase never learns!

Head Empty 25,208
I personally prefer Same Love because I can relate to it a lot more, which makes me more emotionally involved. And it's a very soft song with a comforting melody. Born This Way makes me want to celebrate, but it doesn't have any personal value for me. But I think it's really a matter of personal background and preference. Both serve a similar cause and have a great message, and can have a different kind of impact on different people . They're both amazing! Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺

barcodemonster 3,525
Born This Way went number one like everywhere, everyone knows the chorus, it's a guilty pleasure dance track that is a classic in Gaga's discography and represents the first time Gaga took a risk lyrically and was risky as hell. It's much more appreciated and remembered than some love scan my barcode
