Poker 3,636
After hearing the song many times, I gotta say that I love the melody but I wish it was a little bit more produced. Also, Kanye doesn't really fit, but it's ok. Good accoustic album track, but if the album is pop, then it's not lead single worthy Kindness rules all. Whispering 18,865
Well, good news for you Rih stans, it has not stopped playing on my local radio station since like, 9pm last night. I think that it's going to do well as a single. I, unfortunately, after really trying to get into it, cannot. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that bothers me about it. Maybe I expected Paul to have more impact in the song? As a side note, I love acoustic songs and I am a huge rock/indie rock/alternative music fan, but I just don't think that this came together all that well... It will be popular regardless though. I agree with you. I think the concept is interesting, it just isn't a very good song. I don't think it will end up playing well on stations in the long run, not like some of Rihanna's previous number ones. Of course, as always, that is just my opinion and it is an initial impression. Songs surprise me all the time! :) This song has a radio deal. That's why you are hearing it non-stop since last night.
monketsharona 55,514
Yes, exactly!!!!11 These pop stars should keep us informed of every single thing they are doing or thinking! We are the fans!!!!11 We have a right to know everything and to be fully informed of every timetable and release date for every single piece of music they ever put out and to know exactly what they are doing every minute of every day. It is our career, after all, not theirs! How dare Rihanna not inform us of every move she is making!!! There was a whole 12 hours there where most of her fans didn't even know if this was a single or not. My god- how disrespectful!!! When is her album coming out? DO we even know? How can she expect us to still be fans if we don't even know that, after two long years of waiting?!!! are you mocking me ?
RAMROD 104,599
People seems forgetting that it is almost impossible for Rihanna to flop with her first single. She have 20 Vevo Certified for a reason; GP power.
StrawberryBlond 14,123
Awful song. Just terrible. Boring, generic, middle of the road, passionless. This defines everything I hate about modern acoustic/indie music. Songs about empty subject matters sung by people who can't sing, set to a dime-a-dozen beat that anyone who's just learned guitar could pick up. And now Rihanna's doing it, the last person on earth who I expected. Now, I haven't liked her later material, but at least, bad as it was, it had character. This has no character. Anyone could have sung this. I always think songs like this must have been written by people who know nothing about what relationship trouble is actually like because they're always emotionless with no depth. Or they're boring people in relationships with other boring people. Everything about this track screams "focus group research" and "image overhaul." Trying to market Rihanna as a credible, grown-up, deep artist with a real vision didn't work for Unapologetic and it isn't working now. When Kanye played this live, he got a standing ovation? Jesus, is the world that hard up for decent music? I think standing ovations are just second nature to the public these days, after watching too many reality tv talent shows. Just once, I would like an artist to play a new song and the audience hate it and shoot it down. It might take their egos down a notch and get them to try harder. Rihanna's going to be in serious trouble if her whole album sounds like this. I said that her fans would hate Unapologetic and I was half right on that one, but this time I have no doubt - her fans are not here for this. They want music you can dance to in the club as well as some dirty urban tracks to twerk to. Ballads are only accepted if they're occasional and they have to passionate like Diamonds or Stay in order to be work. For those of you saying you don't like this song and are trying to convince yourself that you do, please just trust your instincts and preferences and don't download it. Artists will never grow if we just download all their lead singles regardless of what they sound like as if we're mindless zombies. I know it's mean, but I want this to finally be the album where Rihanna flops and never resurfaces. She's had undeserved success on the backs of other people's talent for a decade now and she's still doing it (she didn't play a part in the writing of this song). Songs like Diamonds and Stay and lots of her other album track ballads show that she can pull off "deep" but not this. This is "pretentious deep." Rihanna can't pull off pretentious. She doesn't have the talent or star power to do that. Rihanna trying to do "real music" just makes me laugh. Turning it down for a ballad doesn't mean you're making quality music and unfortunately, her label seems to think it is. I knew she'd run into trouble being managed by Jay-Z. He's been making really pretentious stuff recently and he started rubbing off on Beyonce with that schtick. Now he's doing the same to Rihanna. He'll kill off her career, just wait and see. monketsharona 55,514
pretty much I think he's angry and aiming me for all the whining people who were criticising Gaga's move concerning TIHTY..; Whatever, it just proves he's dumb enough to miss my point (cause I absolutely don't care about knowing everything about what she's going to release or not. On the contrary I want her to keep everything about next abum totally secret until the end.) End of off-topic.
Rifek 51,753
With every next listening I'm starting to think it's gonna be a real hit. After first listen I thought ''what a next boring song'', but now I think it's really catchy and most people will like it. Everyone expected a hard-pop song or a breath-taking ballad from Rihanna but she did something more usual. But that usual is unusual.. if you know what I mean... That's perfect to sing-a-long with friends around bonfire with some guitars... Even on the radio between some pop/dance songs it will be an awesome interlude. That song is not tiring, what's important. Just a fun song. People missed that kind of music in radio. I'm sure it will get #1 soon or sooner... It's a matter of time. ❗️ IG: thebumblebee__ ❗️

monketsharona 55,514
Actually I think it could be a great turn in her career to break with the image of the typical commercial artist... Though I don't think all of her album is going to be accoustic...
