Space Haze 60
ARTPOP for me is as experimental as BTW - some noisy abrasive songs, weird lyrics, some genre bending like J&D. Not all Kanye's experiments have gone over well either - for example, him trying to sing using autotune.808s and Heartbreak was a huge success. It spawned the singles Heartless and Love Lockdown and essentially started artists like Kid Cudi and Drake's careers. It's also nearly double platinum. Mills 446
I feel like to be the only one who's not shocked in any way. Madonna's among the few celebrities who are strongly aware of pop culture as dictated by the mainstream media and the extremities of fandom to a point that she's very vocal of it - from embracing the fictitious titles and the opinions of self-proclaimed pop pundits, ranging from traditional media to new media. This isn't the first time I've read the term 'Black Madonna' or 'new Madonna', both online or from mainstream publications. And this wasn't the first time these terms were playfully used to refer someone else in pursuit of coming up with comparisons which both the media and the fandom love for whatever reason.Comparing someone to gauge their success / impact on society has somewhat become part of human nature, and not just within the music / entertainment realms, but also elsewhere. I mean, the "new" or "next" *insert name of an icon* is prevalent also in sports (the next Michael Jordan), politics, religion, education, and business (next Steve Jobs). Is it 'bad', 'unfair', 'petty', or 'childish'? For some, maybe, but in general I don't think so. I believe it's only human to compare. It just so happened this time it wasn't someone else who made the comparisons, but the subject of the comparisons itself made it - which makes this situation quite 'unique'. And whenever something unique happens, some sort of hostile reaction, oftentimes negative, should always be expected. Also, the 'new' or 'next' comparisons are usually not meant literally. They're more of done for the public to quickly see the comparisons being done, meaning 'x' is the new 'y' because the person who made the comparison wants to convey that 'x' has almost the same qualities as 'y' or whose qualities reminds that person of 'y'. Again, is that really bad for an argument to rise? But then again, much like comparing, arguing is also equally part of human nature. So nothing surprising there too. Remus 54
If she means envelope pushing as making stupid and arrogant comments then yes, they are the same. seriously Madge, latching on this Kanye which had a bad PR for promo is not gonna help you at all for this album campaign. Rebel Heart is a good pop record, she doesn't need this kind of desperate promo to get controversy from associating herself to Kanye imo. Dominic 11,922
The more self-aware she gets about her status, the worse her albums getPretty much this. Her latest efforts have hardly been envelope pushing. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Red Velvet 10,988
Umm did she forgot the mostworthy women as in: Ariana (might be) Beyonce (nah, but if Madonna agreed to make her queen of pop then.) Britney (def) Christina (deserving more than Britney since both have an early career, both have controversy, both have sexy videos (Not Myself Tonight and Justify My Love) and sticks to pop.) Cyndi (yas slay b*tch) Ciara (might be but least expected) JLo (she might be that bitch) Janet (deserving more than Madonna) Katy (defintely since both have records (Katy on 5 No.1 on the same album and Madonna's records on Guiness) both sticks to pop, both had same fashion sense (one of the boys is equivalent to Madonna and Teenage Dream is equivalent on COTDF (Confessions) and Erotica might be Prism) Kesha (yeah , early Madge style. Too wild, too erotic.) Mariah (I don't think she will agree since she was a threat on Madge since Her early career) Miley (sure, girl. You both are sexy and have the same personality) Nicki (she got her blessing so why not.) Rihanna (Yas!) Shakira (well, sure.) Tinashe (yas) (The reason I didn't put Gaga because she is the queen of artists.) The choices are better than Kanye. I'm like some kind of supernova

Galactic Mess 1,393
Madge is way better though (in my opinion, obviously). And also much more successful. I don't think Kanye has what it takes to be compared to her, at least on a global level (maybe in the US, but I don't live there so I couldn't say). Guest
Kanye is different from Madonna. It's one thing to push people's buttons about religion and sex, topics that used to make people uncomfortable (arguably still does) and it's another thing to push people's buttons about almost forcing people to call you a legend. Problem with Kanye isn't that he's uncomfortable because he talks about things that are taboos but it's because he can't stop talking about himself, his rich people problems, his god-complex and it almost feels like he's forcing the whole world to consider him as the greatest of all time, better than Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, and whatever the fck he's talking about. He lives in a bubble where only his problems are real and matters, he doesn't realize the platform that he has can inspire people all over the world and that there's more important things in life than a nice Prada bag and a wife with a big booty. And what's interesting is how he lies and attempts to make people feel like he's doing it for "you guys" aka normal non-significant people who have a 9 to 5 job, or two jobs to get by, because he tries to "inspire you" with a 100$ t-shirt filled with holes and a logo that says "Yeezus" on it. That he wants to have a "classless society" because it's the "new slavery", but then sells a white simple t-shirt for 300$ that only 'his people' can afford. Full of **** and everybody knows it. This is why people hate him. Kanye is in no way the "new Madonna", he is hated by so many people because he's a real narcissist and who likes a narcissist? But he can be the "new Trump" for sure.
