heavyMetalGAGA 65
I just read an article about how she worked with a vocal coach every day for six months for last night's performance. Wow....and to think some fans were complaining. Kinda puts into perspective how little we know how hard she's actually working. I also wanted to point out how the vocal coach mentioned, "That if she pulls it off, it's going to change the focus of her career and she pulled it off." What do you guys think that means? Less theatrics and autotune for her upcoming solo release? Brainiac 11,066
I think Gaga's goal is to not have ANY autotune on any of her music from this point on. And yes I think it is safe to assume the next album will be much more natural sounding but still pop.

heavyMetalGAGA 65
http://gagadaily.com/index.php/topic/141673-gaga-worked-every-day-over-6-months-for-her-oscar-performance/ Thanks for the AP mention, but I thought this thread would be different because it's focusing on how she mentioned she wanted to shift her career focus. I'm just curious as to what other fans thought she meant by that :)

I guess to be more specific then, she doesn't want to use autotune in a way that she doesn't see as contributing in an artistic way to her songs. 2007 5,291
I don't know what vocal coach she hired for the Oscar performance, but I know that she never stopped talking to Don Lawrence (who trained her since she was a teenager), and when she was on Howard stern last time she said "I called my old vocal coach [Don Lawrence] just early today...". TimisaMonster 31,073
Gaga did say she didn't want to over-autotune her voice to sound robotic on the next album. This doesn't mean jazz/opera vocals, but simply a rawer take on Gaga's vocals. Not that she used a lot to begin with, but some songs I suppose to overdue it, but it was always in good taste and served a purpose to the creative integrity of the song. It's not a matter of she needs it, but she wants the world to know her for the talent she has and show us she is capable of so much more vocally! :nooo: The Oscars were a preview that Gaga has range we've yet experienced! The new album will cater clear vocals in the same manner...can't wait! Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!
Guest
I think she'll use autotune if she feels it's necessary to get a create a certain texture (Heavy Metal Lover) or relay a specific message (Paper Gangsta), but I'm here for mainly not autotune. And what do you mean, no theatrics? The Oscars performance in itself had brilliant theatrical elements and a beautiful set that looked as if it were designed for a theatre production by Robert Wilson. She'll always be theatrical, but that doesn't mean wearing meat or arriving in a vessel.
