somnambulist 1,526
Apples and oranges, one is more about the theatrics, the other is about grace and vocal prowess. Both are incredible and iconic, but this performance is a game changer for her. People are in AWE at her talent, and not focusing on gimmicks or shock value. Just pure talent. Stigma 205
She topped it because she used her incredible talent and not fake blood. :)
HORRORHOLIC 104
Not even close. I loved it but I really miss the "shocking" performances
Caesium 6,022
No, the Oscars performance was lovely but I doubt anything will ever top the VMAs. Put your white tennis shoes on and follow me

Bambino 24,266
Absolutely not. The Oscars performance was vocally great but the 2009 VMA performance was theatrically and vocally great and that what made it more interesting and iconic imo Let's not say which one is better because each performance has its own flavor and moment. erfaan 2,789
Definitely. Most search person on the internet and nothing but good reviews and comments from celebrities, media and the general public. Yet to see one person leave a bad comment! 2009 will always be remembered for it's theatrics and shock but this was just pure grace and talent
Brandon 457
Gaga has 2 sides. The first side is the best at the VMAs '09 and the other side have we seen at it's best at the Oscars.
MonSwiftAnton 3,746
No, she just brought something new and different to the table. I think it was equally good as the vmas but it's to hard to compare them. I will never recover from this performance though.
