No star will ever sustain their size upon their breakout hits. Go ask Britney if she feels as big as she did in 2001 or how Beyonce felt during the '4' era. I'm not saying that the writer isn't messy but... Completely different context. You can't have a messy, pressed writer writing that an impactful international pop star who still has the power to sell out stadiums in some markets and multiple arena shows in others is "a has been", when she has more impact than he can ever wish to have. What's that quote Gaga said somewhere during the ARTPOP era? "You can't critique something you've never done in your life". But she's proved she can be successful and can have hits, so why should she have to prove herself over and over again? She's moving away from chartier stuff now and doing stuff that she's more interested in, which the public might not be into that much, but it's her career and she can do what she wants with it. I'd rather have an album full of some of the best, most experimental music she's ever made than another "The Fame", honestly. The fact that what she's written is totally wrong is irrelevant to the income they receive for writing. Yes the author is wrong as Gaga clearly isn't as irrelevant as they say, but I don't think it's necessary to bring income into it. And that quote is also meaningless. We can critique anything that we have an opinion on. It may not be the best critique because it's not informed, but it's a critique nonetheless.
